I somehow missed this thread so have just had a good read.
What an epic car - I’m not a MB fan, but this ticks so many boxes. Practical, under the radar looks, much nicer proportioned than the saloon version and that engine is sublime. I’m betting you’ll miss it even if you do plump for the latest version, which in all respects ought to be better I suppose, although I suspect only marginally given the all-round capability of your existing one.
Look forward to further updates
New one has vastly better tech and a far stronger engine which shockingly gives massively more MPG. What an epic car - I’m not a MB fan, but this ticks so many boxes. Sounds new one does sound really good - old one however sounded epic still does.

Did the old one have engine weakness issues? I’ve not heard about this; is it something to bear in mind as I quite fancy one
I've been looking at 2013 cars recently and they look like obscene value for money. Earlier cars can be had for even less, but I think I'd have to have the car with the revised interior.Welshbeef said:

When did the 4.0 V8 TT come in? Welshbeef said:

2014 was the changeover year. I drove both, and ended up spending what would have bought me a 4.0tt on a late tiny mile 6.3 ppp. The 4.0 was nice but looked like a 220cdi inside and out. It’s only an occasional use car and the older model felt more special.Edited by irish boy on Friday 21st December 22:01

Agree with you there. just picked up a late 14 plate 6.2. One of those cars where they just got it "right". I look forward to many miles Edited by irish boy on Friday 21st December 22:01

The earlier M156 engines (used in the prefacelift cars) had issues with the headbolts I've a PFL C63 first registered in March 2011. It's about 7000 units clear of the effected range, so some late 2010 cars should also have the revised head bolts.
As it happens tomorrow will exactly 1 year since I bought mine. Not a thing has went wrong with it. I'm averaging about 17mpg but did once see 27mpg on a trip back from England. I've only done just òver 5k in that time and still have plenty of life left in the rear tyres.
The only downside is the values have taken a real hit this past year. Hopefully they will shore up in the spring.

Whilst there have been some reported cases, it doesn't appear to be wide spread. Anything with the engine number after 60658 will have the revised head bolts.

Look at the C55 AMG or C43 or C32k for history of how these perform
