Yep, CP2 iFlash. Downloaded my own MP215 file, sent it off to them & got my new file back within a couple of hours. It was actually quite a nerve-wracking process, I suppose if you’re used to it there’s nothing to worry about, but all went smoothly & I was glad the instructions mentioned ignoring the myriad of warning lights you get!

In progress -

All done -

Probably the longest part of the job was undoing all my OBD security mods.

Went out for a quick blast, couldn’t give it death as it was quite wet but can immediately feel that 2nd & 3rd gear are far more lively. The gearchange from 1st to 2nd feels a lot smoother too, must be something to do with the fuelling. Very happy so far!

Yeah, that's the problem this time of year, weird thing is that mine seems better in the wet than it did before.

CP2 is so torquey low down it really wants to spin up.

I definitely missed some aspects when I went to CP4, I think most of the time CP2 is quicker and there are more situations when you can use it, like the original car but so, so much better.

Amazing what these little cars will do, think this is the sweet spot.

Yeah, CP2 will be as far as I go. Kind of wish I’d done it earlier & got a dry summer out of it, but I can’t change that now. May upgrade the intercooler in spring but I can’t see it’ll hinder things too much having the stock one for road use in a Scottish winter……

Out a proper run this morning - CP2 is very, very impressive. The car now pulls in 4th how it pulled in 3rd previously. 2nd is pretty mental on a damp road!

Winter detail today with a full decontamination & a coat of Soft 99 Fusso.

Not much else to report, creeping towards 70,000 miles.

Nothing much to update Fiesta-wise, however we have a new family car as we both hated the Evoque (Wife’s choice) and getting rid via WBAC was a no-brainer as we basically broke even on a car just over a year old.

Decided to push the boat out a bit because i can’t face driving a boring/diesel/EV family car as it feels like we are on borrowed time before being pushed into the latter. So here it is - a 2018 S5 in Navarra Blue. First impressions are that it strikes a good balance between comfort & turn of speed.

Traded in my eldest son’s Aygo & he is now using the Fiesta as his daily/station car (although he only does about 20 miles a week). So basically I get to keep it as my weekend car biggrin

Quite fancy getting it on track next year as well.

Very swish ! My boss had an S4 and loved it, it got nicked and replaced with an M140i, like me he never gelled with it and missed the Audi, got a C63 BiTurbo that did the trick but he still really rates the Audi

I have been without mine for like 5/6 weeks as lent it my eldest for a bit (He lives and works in Scotland) and used his old Merc CLK which was fine, not a bad old thing but looking forward to using mine again.

Will be booking Anglessey for March for my first track day, need to get the bushes on the front, buy a helmet and probably some other stuff.

Thanks J4CKO. Slowly getting to grips with it, can certainly get along! Interior is fantastic.

I need to get sorted kit-wise too, haven’t been on track since I sold my Elise about 15 years ago. I think Knockhill do a session with an instructor coaching in your own car, might try that first.

Hope your son is enjoying the fruits of your labour! Mine isn’t really into cars, he’d outgrown the Aygo really, great first car but hopefully the Fiesta will spark a bit of interest.

He is home for two weeks, still nicking it, had to move his car to take mine this morning.

I had a go earlier, couldnt be more different to the old Merc, as fun as I remember.

I had read somewhere that the airboxes on B9 Audi’s can be quite susceptible to collecting debris. Also discovered that the air filter doesn’t get changed until the 60k service, which seems nuts.

So I decided to treat the car to a Racingline foam air filter. Was met with this upon opening the airbox……22k miles…..

God knows what it would be like after 60k!

New filter in place.

Racingline claim an extra 20nm of torque which seems rather optimistic, probably just hoovering the box out will gain something anyway.

With the return to the office for us both a couple of days a week, another car was needed. Amazing how we’ve always had two cars, but got so used to only running one (and a cheap one at that) over the last couple of years, it feels a bit of an extravagance to be honest!

Wife has always liked TT’s (have had two Mk1’s) so I was tasked with finding another. Decided on a Mk2 this time as most of the originals up here at least are starting to look quite tatty unless you pay big money. The car will be living outside too.

Found a 2011 two-owner 2.0 manual petrol in Glasgow with 70k and after a good look round decided to go for it. Basically a Mk6 Golf GTi in disguise. Cosmetically it’s excellent, wheels could do with a refurb but that aside it’s all good. It’s just had new pads & discs all round and has FSH. Interior-wise it could genuinely pass for a couple of years old on condition if you ignore the old tech.

Gave it a run over with the DA & the Daytona Grey pearl is a lovely colour when the sun hits it. Quite difficult not to look flat in photos though! Here it is.

It’s away on its first long trip today to Newcastle with the Wife for work, and made it down fine biggrin

Nothing much to report on the S5 & still stealing the Fiesta most weekends for a morning punt.

MOT this morning for the Fiesta & a clean pass with no advisories. Son is off to New York for a week soon, so I’ll be able to blat around in it for a few days, might even go on a road trip. It’s been such a great wee car, almost had it two years now & it never fails to put a smile on my face.

Service today with oil & filter, cabin filter & spark plugs replaced.

Hasn’t used a drop of oil since last year.

Halfway through spark plug change. These cars are an absolute doddle to work on.

Old plugs. Looking decent but change is requested every three years in the service schedule.

Almost at 72,500 miles now. Next year is the ten year service, so I’ll hand it over to get the timing belt, aux belt & waterpump done, but will keep doing the rest myself.

Took it out for a spin afterwards, you just can’t help but love these things.

MOT for the S5 tomorrow & when it was in at Audi for a service a couple of weeks ago, they advised that a rear spring lower mount bush had split & was corroding (there is an aluminium base in the bush).

They wanted £180 to do this - no chance. I got two mounts for £15 from GSF and changed the offending one yesterday. Ended up being a bit of a faff, I thought it would be as easy as the rear isolators on the Fiesta, but the camber bolt was an absolute arse to get out, and even worse to put back on…..

Still, feels like you’ve beaten the man a bit!

The offending mount

I’m not sure if this would be an MOT fail or not, but worth doing anyway. Apparently a pretty common fault on the Audi B9 platform.

Thought I heard a bit of a rattle going over a speed bump in the Fiesta the other day, and sure enough when I was under it reapplying Lanoguard ahead of winter this afternoon, I noticed that both exhaust heat shields were hanging off.

It looks like a mounting hole on each one has corroded into a hole big enough to fall past the bolt. I’m going to try & fashion something using a big washer to get them back on, hopefully tomorrow!

Lovely car OP!

One of the best bang for your buck mods I can recommend on the MK7 platform is a set of camber bolts for the front end. They're super cheap, easy to fit and It really livened mine up! I ran -2 degrees on the front and it gave the car a much sharper turn in and a surprising amount of grip without losing the playfulness these cars have. I also had an Eibach rear anti roll bar on mine too which made it much easier to rotate and adjust mid corner. Both cheap and easy to install mods that really transform the car.
Also another thing to note being a 2013 car your car will have the softer rear beam. 2014 onwards all ST's came with a stiffer rear beam that was designed for the ST200 but Ford just put them on all models instead of making 2 different beams. When I swapped a 2017 ST rear beam onto my ZS it made a huge difference!

Not an ST but my old ZS.

Nice, sound like good reasonably priced mods. I’m kind of torn between doing more to this or leaving as is with my son & scratching the Mini R53 itch I’ve had for a while.

My daughter’s boyfriend had a Fiedta Metal which I think is the same thing as the Zetec S but ruined it with cheap daft coilovers & general 17yo buffoonery…..

Sorted the heatshields with some big washers. Not perfect but will hopefully hold. Took 10 minutes & free.
