My New Car - S2000
Discussion
Here it is
Had it almost a week now and done around 300 miles already. Both with roof on and off.
First impressions:
Its good, really bloody good. Better than I was expecting in fact! The steering and chassis feedback is superb.
The noise is fantastic. Really brutal - what an engine!
It is quick, not stupidly quick but quick enough.
It isn't as loud on the motorways (roof up) as I though.
It looks stunning in the flesh.
It is more economical than I thought.
Its small inside yes - but plenty of little cubby holes.
The boot is actually quite big.
It makes a good bike anchor.
Sorry for the nik nak photos I will get some better ones...
Picking it up (my old CRX in the background):
I am ready for the winter...
Where it now lives:
Used as a push bike anchor bloody fixieridingwkers!

Ace car, whats the story with the pushbike leaned against it? I'd go mental if some Lance Armstrong wannabe decided to prop his bike up against my car!
It is my mates - I met him for a pub lunch. It isn't touching the paint won't worry. His legs wouldn't be much use for cycling if it had been

I looked at these before buying my Zed.... i will probably have one next tbh!
Beautiful! Whats it like on fuel?
I thought about a Z but wanted something I could drop the roof on.Beautiful! Whats it like on fuel?
First two tanks, mixed driving one was 31mpg and the other 30mpg. Quite a bit of VTEC on the second tank but around half of both was motorway miles at around 70-75.
I was lucky enough to have a spin in this at the weekend - feels very old-school (in a very good way) with the long bonnet and little postbox windscreen. The engine is brutal and the noise is fantastic. Lovely interior too, a really nice place to sit. Unfortunately it was raining so we didn't get to go topless - oh, and we didn't have the roof down on the car either.
All in all, a great bit of kit and I'm very jealous....

Looks great, I miss mine especially the induction roar with the airbox lid off!
Have to disagree with the feedback statement, I found the steering and chassis slightly numb and uncommunicative.
I must say, that's the first time I've heard anyone describe an S2K as numb and uncommunicative. Are you sure you didn't have a lemon? Have to disagree with the feedback statement, I found the steering and chassis slightly numb and uncommunicative.

Pretty sure it was a good 'un, full history and the bushes, dampers etc were in good order. Apparently a chassis brace helps which I didn't have.To be fair to the Honda, I am comparing it two cars that have fantastic feel and feedback (MK1 MX5 and VX220) so perhaps it is a little unfair. But, I never felt comfortable pushing the S2000 because it didn't communicate it's limits well.
Otherwise a brilliant car and great ownership proposition - the engine and gearchange are the best I've experienced.
