Well with my 328 sport playing up and its fate hanging in the balance, I badly needed a cheap set of wheels to get around in.

Meet "Snotball".

Crap phone pics will do for now.

Cosmetically not the best, rust on one of the arches and a massive scrape down the left door, but that's not important really. What is important is that mechanically it is a peach, engine runs really smooth, newish tyres (little 13" things biggrin) doesn't pull to one side or the other, no horrible vibrations, nothing.

Came with a folder full of receipts, history etc.

The only thing that it could do with really is some new brake pads.

I paid £285 for it... unexpectedly the insurance said that they would be refunding me £245 for switching cars.. meaning that this car owes me 40 quid! wobble

Indeed, I have much love for the snotter. Forgot how nice it was to have a car where you didn't care about car park dings, not worrying about where you've left it etc. biggrin

I have one of those wheels with a pretty much new tyre on it if you would like it when I come get your wheels? I don;t want anything for it, it is just taking up space in my garage

I've had 2 Mk3 Golfs, strangely lovable cars

eta: I also have 2 spare headlights if you want them, same as above, just taking up space. They even have working bulbs in them!
Thanks for the offer, I might drop by sometime thumbup It's my second mk3 Golf too, the reason I bought one was because of my last one which I ran for nearly 18 months, never failed to get me to where I wanted to go!

Now that's what I'm talking about! Hope it serves you well. Keep updated, I would be interested to see how it treats you over the coming weeks
Just bothered to look through all the receipts for it for the first time, had a new HG done less than 2000 miles ago, along with new spark plugs and injectors. Can't go wrong really biggrin

Haven't had any issues with it so far, put about 800 miles on the clock by now (158K). There are only 2 minor problems, one of which is a loose heat tray which is rattling, the second is the throttle body is gummed up a bit, which will be sorted when I can be bothered hehe

MOT comes up in December, which will be the real bangernomics test for the car!

Might very well be the 75hp version! I've owned an R registered Golf before, and that had the 100hp engine fitted, so I just assumed.

I haven't ragged this one much so I can't tell biggrin

This car has been good to me, but sadly its failed the MOT on rot which will cost more to fix than what I paid for it. The sills turned out to have a thin layer of metal welded over the top of them, mounting points didn't hold up too well hehe

So erm, if you have a sub 600 shed for sale, drop me a line laugh

Ours will fail on ROT too...MOT not due until Feb but it is off the road and going to the scrappy in the sky as it has been made surplus to requirements.
It's a shame they rot so easily, as aside from rot the car is absolutely fine (albeit a bit dented)

I've been looking at a suitable replacement, either a Mondeo ST24 or a cheap BMW E39

hehe I swore I wouldn't go back to the M52B28 engine either. Oh well.

The guy selling the ST24 isn't replying to any of my questions anyway. The 528 I'm looking at has done over 250K, at £650. I'm not worried about the engine breaking, just wondering what it is going to be like to sell in a couple of months time, also the tax is due to expire.

He won't budge on the £650 which is a shame, normally I'd have snapped it up by now if I had just a little more cash.

Never thought of those, will give them a look! Any pitfalls with the engine to look out for?

I've also started looking at MX5s, though all the ones in my budget are st hehe

I'm looking forward to getting it!

My only worry is I was hoping to buy an Impreza in Feb/March, and I might be at risk of not wanting to get rid of the E39 hehe

Nice to see you back in a BM biggrin

Did you pick it up at uni or at home?
Well.. I left Swansea to go to Telford via picking up the E39 in Oxfordshire and stuffing all my things in it hehe

Will go into more detail when I put a thread up about it!

y2blade, getting pictures sorted out now thumbup
