Hi guys,
Been a while since I've been to any PistonHeads meetings, but looking to get back into weekend drives now that work has eased off.
The car itself I'm finally happy with, recently sorting the clutch and box rebuild. Just waiting for May and July for the next Nurburgring trips, which it's pretty much reduced to doing due to time constraints these days.

I'm at the Ring from the 6th-10th July, but flying over in May to stay with a friend to watch the VLN.
The diff cover is custom, but the diff itself is a MK3 Toyota Supra 3.73 LSD with a Weir Performance kit inside. But mounted on a 6 degree fully adjustable rear beam. Very trick stuff

Probably over the past 11 years, but I just keep all receipts and don't add them up
The gearbox is a standard Borg Warner T5, best compromise really for a mix of driving. Considered an Elite Sequential, but it would just be a ballache in the long run. So had the box fully rebuilt in January, so should be good for another 30 years now

I love the Racing Puma. Did you see the full carbon one that was on ebay not long ago? That would have been a nice project, full on 4x4 or RWD. But tbh I wouldn't do it to a genuine Racing Puma, just do what the Gibbs boys did as SCS and modify the engine so it's like the Super 1600 used to be. Easily achieve over 200bhp on that engine without a turbo.

Amazing. Coilovers and full WRC style 6 degree rose jointed rear beam enable you to adjust camber, castor and toe which takes care of the rear end and the front has adjustable rose jointed track control arms and compression struts. Best thing you can do to a Sierra Cosworth, throw the running gear into a Focus
When I got the shell, it needed to be fully overhauled really. Had to chop and re-weld so much, not to mention engine and transmission work etc. But it's been a full ground up build over the past 11 years. Worth every late night and pennies thrown at it, never let me down....touch wood!!!

Nah but in all seriousness, 4x4 is too safe, not as much fun in my eyes. Plus, the expense of 4x4 transmission which are ridiculous, the standard T5 gearbox can handle all the power with ease and is really nice to live with on long haul European drives. Plus, since fitting a new flywheel, clutch and having the box rebuilt in January, the car just became more of gem to me
The shell was converted by AG Motorsports in Scotland, but it was pretty poor by the time I got the rolling shell. I had to chop and re-weld a lot of the car, so a full ground up rebuild. Taken me 11 years to get where I wanted it
The wheels are Raceline RL7 8x18 ET33. They were used on the Escort WRC cars during testing, but very rare now really. Most have been repaired or are fetching prices around £1000-1200. The colour is anthrecite, not sure on any powdercoat codes, they were done at Diamond Wheels in Stockport so I'm sure you can ring them to ask.

My 205 4x4 shell is in at MK motorsport at the moment as Mark is fitting a Wrc cage, full WRC rear cradle (I used to have his 6 degree beam like yours and he adapted it to take the supra diff) and I already have the Wrc hubs, tca’s, bladed roll bars and comp,struts etc. The cradle will then run Black Art suspension where all 4 will be front coilovers and sit in WRC turrets on the back. He has made it all in t45, including the cage to keep weight down.
My engine is a 2.2 stoker, it mapped at 710bhp but I am down tuning it as my 205 is only about 1000kg so a smaller Borg Warner efr will be going on. Probably under 600 bhp
Mine is 4x4 with oppliger close ratio box but uses quaife front diff and same weir kitted supra diff as yours on 3.9 ratio so it tops out at 160mph at 8000rpm but gets there a lot quicker than standard ratios.

Fact you just said that, it's inevitable you'll go the Elite route :lol:
But just remember, although it's an epic piece of kit, you have to ask yourself why Punton's Escort keeps coming back up for sale on Ebay. Perfect in all aspects, but a sequential for road use just gets annoying and difficult after a while. Track though, phenomenal!
