Said goodbye today to my 2014 Fiesta ST that I’ve owned from new.

WFH and having younger drivers using my car, I decided it was time for a change. I collected my new Taigo this morning.

1.0 3 pot turbo, with 110hp and 7 speed DSG, R line trim
(I used to have the Forum username 5potTurbo, so it's all downsized!)

Lots of tech in a Polo platformed car…..surprisingly nippy, too.

Thanks

>650km covered since Thursday, with a motorway journey to NL and back yesterday.

Very happy with the car and surprised with its performance given the small engine.

What mpg is it returning?
The first 600km worked out at 6 l./100km, which is 47mpg in old money.

Nice running-in trip!

I know people in Europe often seem to do very high mileages vs UK users - do you happen to know anyone with high miles (kilometres smile ) on the VW 3cyl engine?
I don’t. frown I don’t know anyone with a 3 cyl VW engined car.

Hasn't this got proper dashboard controls, compared with most modern VW's, which I assume makes it much more user friendly?
Hi. I’m not sure I understand what you mean? It’s a virtual cockpit, so there are a number of options as to what’s shown in front of you, including a rev counter and speedometer, instead of the nav view. You can also have a smaller nav view in the middle, between the rev counter and speedo.

Looks nice in that colour and spec..
Thanks. I’m very happy with it. I’m pleased I waited for it to be built instead of taking a car from stock that wasn’t blue.

I can't say I've seen many since they were launched compared to the T Roc or the Tiguan.
Typical though, when you have one, you see loads of them. Passed 4 on Saturday on the E42 on our journey to/from NL. laugh

Almost 800km now.

Agreed. It’s nice that VW gives people the option of these fastback-roofed cars for people who want a bit more style, and aren’t fussed about giving up a bit of boot space. Saw a lot of Taigos on the road on a recent road trip holiday in Northern Spain.
They're made in Pamplona, so that may be a reason you saw so many.

1,500km in and still loving it.
The LED matrix headlights are AMAZING, and it's frugal around town and on motorways.

It is available as a 1.5 TSI, in Continental Europe, at least.
The price difference wasn't great, fuel consumption neither.

I didn't feel the need to have the 1.5 4 cylinder as soon as I drove the 1.0 3 cylinder.

Yup!
I think it’s better with the 7 speed DSG and more refined than in the tiny Up! GTI

Three months in, and not a whole lot of KM covered in that time .... I WFH 100%.
I think it's only on 2,500km now.

We were in Mallorca last month and saw LOADS of them as rental cars, although they were all lower specced models.

Took another trip to the Netherlands on Sat to visit my youngest at Uni there. The Taigo is surprisingly good on motorways, despite its small engine.

Very happy with this so far.biggrin

Just had an email from the VW dealer that my winter wheels and tyre set is ready for collection, so I need to make an appointment with the local tyre place who change them over in <10 mins., vs the VW dealer taking an hour.
(The tyre place also wash the summer wheels - throughly- then keep them in storage for the next 6 months or so.)

Pleasingly, the VW dealer changed the winter wheels from steelies wit wheel trims to alloys at no extra charge.
He’s a good chap that salesman. I’ll get him a bottle of something decent for Christmas.

Stacked up at home….

And fitted …..

January ski trip has now been booked. Mrs RC said to take the Taigo instead of the Octavia wagon. I thin that’s praise for the Taigo for the long motorway journey. smile

Snow is forecast for next week, but I don’t usually drive far, if at all, during the week.
