Hi, my first post here although ive been reading here for quite along time.

Anyway thought id post a few pics of my project up for anyone intrested and wondered if any one else had a simular project? if you have please post some pics!smile

Heres my first attempt i did when i was 19, its been in two mags so you may have seen it before.

It was 136bhp standard and with my charger it made 205bhp at the fly wheel this time using the rotrex charger i'am planning to get 300+bhp. hope you all like it.

Now what the title is realy about, 2 years older and bored of the power i bought a rotrex charger and started fabbing up some bracklets and pipe work fo it, heres some of the pics from the project so far.

Wooden mock up of the braket

After i made the metal one

My intercooler

Mounted with my DIY stainless boost pipesbiggrin

My swedish style inlet, not sure weather to polish it or do it with crackle black paint.

So lets see yours if your working on a project, give me some insperation! and some motivation to get outside in the cold weather and finish it offsmile

Cheers, Matt

All well and good, but i think id have started with something a little more powerful than a 1.8?

All the same, good work.
Might there not be enough room with an M20 under the bonnet?

Seems a hell of a lot of work and expense for similar power output to an M50B25 or M52B28 conversion but fair play to you for not taking the easy option.
The main trouble with that is the insurance, like i said i was 18/19 when i did the first conversion and it was cheeper to do that than swop the engine or insure an E36 M3.

As for the swopping of the engine the B25 is only 189bhp and the B28 197bhp there is quite a lot of expence in doing that to, so far the first conversion only cost me £1700 including the stand allown ECU and getting it mapped.

The second has obviously cost more but now the car has got alot of work done on the running gear, ECU and the body work so half of the work is already done.

It was an eaton m45 supercharger off a mini cooper s. As far as i know i was the first to do this in the Uk an at the time anywere else although there are two more being build on the e30zone now.

A firm called downingatlanta did a simular kit but it made less power than mine biggrin only 187bhp iirc.

I made a laminova style chargecooler set up that sat in the inlet manifold, dropped the charge temp by 30c!! Eaton chargers get very hot!

Thanks for the answer. I have read about the DA kits but they dont make them anymore. I was hoping it was an off the shelve kit! I dont have the talent or equipment to make one from scratch. Did you do a journal of the build up for the first kit?
Heres the thread for the first build, you will have to log in to see it but its all free and only takes 2mins.

I was turning one of the laminova style charge cooler finned tubes, water runs through them an the charged air passes through the fins, that tubes only a 1/4 done, there ar two of them that sit in the inlet manifold to make the charge cooler.
