First car!

Yey, finally got a first car. 3 weeks to go till im 17 but bought this a hour ago! 1.2 16v Corsa 5door. Yes, 5 door, it wasnt what i was after but when it was this price, what the hell! Can get my mates in easyer So heres a picture. Its not at my house yet cause we got him to put a new front shock on it. Wednesday it should be here so il get a few more pictures then.

So here it is. Its no Gallardo or a Clio V6 but yeah, its mine

Somethings have changed since i got it back in july. Not a lot, but a few things, so i thought i'd update

Just minor things really, mudflaps, v grill, suspension, sticker.









It even took part in its own drift video earlyer this winter Admittedly, FWD wasnt the best for 'drifting' but i dont think i did too bad with only 2 or so months worth of experience

Most recent was my Apex 40mm springs. Got them second hand for £50 and got them fitted for the same price. Why? Well i was getting a bit tired of it handling like it was on stilts and looking like it too. Looking at the car you wouldnt really notice its been lowered unless its parked next to a standard one. But it does handle much better now. Havent had a good hoon in it yet but by testing out a few roundabouts it seems excellent. A fair ammount of comfort has been lost though. Its much stiffer now, thus, pot holes are a nightmare. Speedbumps arnt that bad, aslong as you take them slow. Nothing catches due to the hight so thats good. Havent got any 'good pictures' of it with the springs on yet, just this side by side comparison view. I think its dropped a little more now after these photo's as its had them on for a couple of days.







So thats it as it is now. Only thing i havent mentioned is something almost embarrasing. A air filter. I was in college, a mate said he had one in his garage from his corsa that he's sold and i could have it. Went to have a look at lunch, thought sod it, put it on, sounds a little bit different, rev's a bit smoother too. It was free so why not Dont give me too much abuse! Its only just started looking different in the past month.

Just got it tonight. SXI wheels that im thinking of painting black to set it apart from the rest slightly. No daft arse body kits intended here though! Might have to order myself a small PH sticker for it soon.

Yes i should know better. But im paying for every penny of the car and insurance. And the insurance is £1100, no paying in installments either cause im under 18! So i havent got too much money to play with at the moment. I could get my mate to paint my wheels for a few quid as he did his the otherweek and still has paint left over. I think it would suit it as it has a dark ish look to it already. The lights are slightly smoked, dark coloured. So i think it would look quite well.

Only other plans for the car are a set of iridium (sp?) plugs. Oil seems fine. So thats about it for now. Guna get insured straight away though when i turn 17, so i can learn in my own car with my dad aswell as in the lessons.

I would but its tricky trying to make light object dark. Theres problems with shadows etc. But il give it ago.

True, i should but my second car wont be anything better no doubt. Its a year, id much preffer to spend a few quid, no mass amounts of money, to set the car apart from everyone elses. So im thinking, tinted windows, black alloys and smoked rear lights. I would of gone for a debadged grill but mines not the face lifted Corsa so i cant do that. Anyway, for now some more pictures!

Had my first drive in it the otherday, private land obvously. I learnt to drive when i was 11, in a MX5! True PH spirit. But i must have totaly forgot how to drive, i was st! But still, only need a bit of practice and im sure il be alrite. Thought id give it a bit of welly, see what the 1.2 could do, was impressed when i herd the wheels spin going into second

Done a few photoshops tonight to give some ideas what it would look like with the wheels painted.

So the car as it is now


First off i was thinking, spray the insides of the alloy. If i where to do this id probably have to spray the front silver again as there looking a bit tatty atm. Also paint the V grill on the front black.


Secondly i did a full black alloy. Doesnt look great in the photoshop but it gives you a idea what it might look like. Again, the V grill painted black


Then a final photoshop, what id like it to look like when im done. Lowered, sprayed V-grill, tinted rear windows and sprayed alloys.


Found these pictures of someone with a 3 door SXI that painted the alloys black and the V grill too. Think it looks quite good

Nice car mate. With those subtle changes it would make a world of difference. The only thing I wouldn't do is tint the windows as you might be a bit of a target for traffic patrol. Without the windows done it would have a cool touring car look about it I think.

Cheers. Yeah i agree about the tints. I dont think il ever get them done. Too much money mainly. Could be something like £200-400 to do the 5 rear windows. No chance am i paying that much on the car. Id rather keep the money for when i get my 125cc bike.

I seriously suggest NOT lowering the car though. Your most likely going to go the cheap route and just buy springs, which yes, will lower the car, but your just going to upset the geometry of the car and make it handle worse. The only way you would make the car handle better would be to get full coilover kit, but they can be expensive and its kinda pointless spending that ammount of cash on a boggo corsa.

Oh, and as said before, dont paint the wheels black. You will (inevitabely) kurb the alloys at some point, and if there black, you will end up with bright silver lines on your alloys, which will look terrible.

True true and true. Yeah lowering it is just a fantasy. Its not going to happen. Mostly cause when the cars 5 up and already lowered, it wont get over any speed bumps!

Mines is annoying when it scrapes along the ground when I take corners sharply. Wonder if getting a SRi splitter will do anything to the insurance
