I give you the latest addition to the Garlick Garage - 1990 Porsche 944S2, the book is open for guesses as to how long I will keep it.

I've only had it since Saturday, so more details to follow smile

The Rangie is expensive to run at 10-12 mpg around town, and there are bits and pieces that need attention on a car of that age. My car cost me £700 to buy, but has just cost me £576 in engine work and it still needs another part at £135 to finish 100%.

I guess that my best advice is to buy the best you can afford, and then 'shake it down' for a month at home before travelling too far. Mine had been used mostly around town during its life and the first time I took it on a M Way it lost it's water and I had to await recovery. Now the work has been done I trust it more now than ever, but I know I will spend plenty more on it in the future.

However, I absolutely love it and will use it tonight over the 944 to get home (mainly because it has working A/C) smile

I paid £3400 for it, with FSH (belt done 20K ago), 11 months MOT, 5 months tax and it has just had a lube service and front discs and pads too.

No rust to speak of, tyres have 5k left in them and all the electrics work. It could do with some tidying here and there, but overall it's in very (very) good shape for a 20 year old car smile

Perhaps I do need the doctors advice hehe

Anyway, I had already passed the California e-mail to Chris in the office, but I'll chase him up tomorrow for you.

rare to find a/c in an S2
Apologies for the confusion, I was talking about the Rangie having working A/C, the 944 doesn't have it fitted.
