I have a new toy YAY. I never wrote about my Aygo on here as they are unappreciated and I do run an owners forum but finally I get to a have a readers car thread biggrin

And here she is..

She is in excellent condition inside and out bar a few minor cosmetics which I plan to work on. It has of course rained ever since I bought her so I do love the T-bar but not quite enjoyed it much yet. I need to stop making the lights pop up and down before I wear them out laugh and well the sound it makes is immense. I love it.

I am seriously going to smack the next person who (non petrol head friends mostly) who can not understand why I went from a brand new car to an F reg irked Because its Retro cool!!

Looking good Kit. I have just got my mk1 out from its winter slumber so I'm fairly excited with it all.
If you have any questions aboutthe car, technically wise, give me a shout. I have most parts on mine apart over the years.
The old mk1 still feels special when you drive it, even when its 20 odd years old.
Thank you! Kind offer will remember that, am sure I will have loads.

I partly wanted an old car because I couldn't do anything to the new one, never needed fixing etc laugh So I am hoping to learn some proper mechanical stuff and have been told the 4A-GE is a good engine to learn from.

I want one of these so badly. And the fact that insurance on a 1.6 is cheaper to insure than my ZR!

Lovely car and looks rust free!
Yep havent found any yet, watching one part on the door hinge but otherwise seems to be mint. Need a bit work on the front skirt and has had some welding done previosuly but I can't even believe how little dents/scratched or anything I can find!

So I think it's fair to say this one is more fun than the old motor!

Looks tidy, love the colour too. Not see any round me no more. Well, actually did spot one being driven by a woman not that long ago. And it sounded pretty nice too as she "played" with the engine. biggrin
Ah the Aygo was fun dont get me wrong and if I could have both cars I would. But yeah the power is nice and so is the noise.

And well if that was the past two days it could have been me laugh I see anyone and I have to play with the engine. Actually I do that even if no one is about laugh

I would rather talk about microwaves and quiche than a load of pubescent boys wanting a shag from each other.

You have a thread I can follow?

I made the mistake not long after picking car up of putting cheap fuel in the car, so used to it with the Aygo. Put the proper stuff in this evening and OMFG the difference is amazing. I have been driving around randomly ever since. cloud9

So the engine as blown up frown

Do I put in a new/reconditioned engine? a V6 maybe? or let this car die? it has had a lot of money spent on it in the past 5 months and I do love it. Am so confused.

Put a V6 in it!
biggrin

Am going to have to get another car and I have a 3k budget, so how much do I spend on turning this car into something fun for the track as I really want to race in the TSS and the MR2 Championship? and hpw much on the car as I need a practical relaible car? Thing is I despise pretty much all practical normal boring cars frown

Awww you two not helping me here!

Got quotes for new engine from 200-400 and also an offer from a friend who would fit it for free! Sadly I think he wont fit it without wanting at least a date from me in return, so I am in a moral quandry. frown

I would love to do the rebuild so much but everything practical wise is against me!

It is just the practicalness of it all, I need a car for work etc, this one has proven to be very unreliable and even with a new engine I know there are other things that will need to be fixed and I don't have an endless supply of money (or patience) to keep it working. I would happily have another MK1 again as I loved it but I could buy a complete new one for whats it going to cost to fix it and hope the new one is not as much of a lemon as this one has been.

I would hate to see it go to 'waste' though so will speak to the owners forums about someone having it to break or fix.
