Since I'm new I thought i'd start a thread for my car.

Bought it about 4 months ago now and I love every minute I drive it! I have a cleaning obsession (daily..) and I've got a few small OEM+ modifications ot it but nothing major planned apart from front strut brace, anti roll bars, eibach sportline springs and anthracite wheels. Previous owner had a nice set of limo black tints front and back on the car so removed them after an hour of owning the car

Current modifications
- Silvertec indicator bulbs (silver instead of orange)
- Yellow fog lamps (previous owner - to be removed)
- 512mm x 90mm plate (sits in the recess perfect - plate police?)
- OMP rear strut brace
- KTR Carbon fibre engine cover
- Polished inlet manifold and fuel rail guard (WIP)
- Skoda Fabia VRs Splitter
- Cone Filter (soon to be replaced with phase 1 172 airbox)

Rear strut brace and helmet - gimmick...

Caught in the act

Thanks for reading!

Sweet car, I have the fake 1.4 Clio Campus 'Sport' version which I like, really want one of these but afraid the insurance would rape me. How old are you now and how much did you pay for insurance and the car itself?
Cheers, I'm 21 and I pay £700 insurance fully comp with H.I.C (3 years exp/3 years NCB - group 16 car) The car was £6000, could have got ones for cheaper but I had that much to spend and I viewed 13 cars before buying this one and I couldn't spot a thing wrong with it! (apart from the tints it had on which I took straight off) Also that was from a dealership with full service history and only 26,000 on it.

I will be 20 in October and Im hoping it comes crashing down, can you remember whether your premiums dropped at all? And is it solely in your name or parents as main drivers as that seems really cheap. I have 2 years NCB...
I thought it was quite expensive tbh, I had a Golf 20vt before this and paid £800 fully comp thats a group 14 car with modifications declared. Not sure if it made a difference with age just NCB and experience really. Since i've had mine 2 of my mates have got ones and there both 19 and its in my name with my dad as another drive but I still get the no claims.

Regarding the detailing, I drive it plenty but I like to keep it clean. Would be a shame to let a perfect bodywork example go to waste imo. Sorry if this isn't too your liking.

So, sorry to be a pain but your saying your mates have one, a 2.0L at 19 and whats the insurance for them? Either im looking on the wrong insurance sites or im missing something totally...
Don't worry about it mate, not sure but i'll ask tonight and let you know.

My advice, miss out comparison sites and try adrian flux/hertz insurance (same I think...) I saved a few quid on my Golf by telling them I was a member of UK-MkIV's which I was got 15% discount for a free sign up!

Nice, I recognise that car park. Just underneath the wainstones, claybank right?

And is that the transporter I can see in the background of the last photo?
Yup thats Clay bank, we had a run out from Stokesly to Helmsley last sunday. Great driving roads!

please tell me you're limited to 100 miles per year with a huge excess and live in fort knox. my premium is not far off yours for a 1.6rsi with the same ncb and 12yrs driving. 18k business miles though. thought about a 172 as the mpg isn't so bad but the insurance was silly.

nice chassis on the clio, I'd consider a 182 as a daily in future.
Haha, nope i'm down as garaged in a good postcode, 12,000 miles a year, modifications declared. Business mileage hikes it up though, I asked for 1000 business miles on mine and the quote went up £164! So I left it, but everything I told the insurance was true.

The mpg isn't bad at all really, as expected the harder you drive the more you use but I drive about 40 miles a day and fill up with vpower weekly and manage to get through the week and weekend on about 3/4 tank.

Maybe, but the mucky car will have set of half a day sooner wink
Good point but wouldn't the mucky car then be waiting for half a day? wink

Looks fantastic thumbup

I'm toying with the idear of going for a 172 Cup for next summer smile
Thanks! The cup models are awesome, I was going to get one with mine but on the 182 you only get basic interior no half leather/alcantra, no air con, xenon lights etc. I know its all extra weight but as stated above I drive 40 miles a day so need something comfy since its my daily

They are really nice cars, i was just dubious of my mates how it handled maybe it was his driving! laugh
I think it must have been his driving or the tyres. I put a set of falken tyres on mine for daily use and it handled rather poor, got my Toyo T1-R's on now and R888's for track and its fantastic! Handles like a house fly and mine kept up with a 401bhp skyline on b roads.

Small update - this weekend i'm going to be respraying wheels graphite grey and painted the calipers sunflower yellow. Also ordered some drilled and grooved discs to fit for the front.

And likely won't get any payout from insurance company if he crashes it!

But he drives it most of the time?
Exactly, fronting is still fronting.

All it means is that if he crashes it, and the insurance company find out (and let's face it, they'll be suspicious) then they wont pay his part of the claim and may chase him, or mum, for any 3rd party damages.
Ah right, thanks for the heads up i'll warn him...
