Ay'up.
Another VW owner here. And as said above, post pics of your cars.
Welcome!
I've been mad keen on the idea for a bit, so a quick Q here: My '1996 1.4 Polo' + G60 = Sleepertastic...
Can It be done and how hard?
Narr then... you're not far from me mate. I'm just over near Wakefield. Another VW owner here. And as said above, post pics of your cars.

What dub do you drive?
I think the general concensus among dub nuts it that if: VW made it, it'll fit into any VW...with a little shoehorning.
I did a nice easy engine swap on my Mk2 Golf last year. I dropped a 2.0L 16v Abf lump into it, it were easy enough but took me ages cos i totally rebuilt the engine.
It went like stink but the lack of traction was a bit of an issue. I have pics of that so i'll bung a couple up.

THE ABF'd GOLF:
ENGINE BAY:
MY OLD MK3 2.0L 16v:
MY OLD 67 BUG:
MY OLD MK2 16v:
MY OLD MK4 GTi TURBO:
So, as you can see, i like mi dubs. Even if they dont always work as they should, they have buckets of character.
My rocco makes me grin evertime i get in it.....or that could just be the vibrations causing that!! ha!

Thank you kind sir.
Still in two minds what to do with the corrado. You see its got the 9a 2.0l 16v engine....that would slot nicely into the scirocco.
The rado's my achilles heal at the mo, its got a cracked windscreen, knackered sunroof and it wont go into reverse. I think the reverse problem is just the cable shift needs adjusting, but that lump would defo be fun in the light rocco.

Mine? Well, it's a very Mundane 1.4 Polo. Perhaps one of the most boring VW models ever built. I am, however, looking to change that and hopefully put a little excitement into it as I'm really wanting to via myself into shoehorning something silly up front, while leaving the exterior of the car standard (albeit upgraded brakes, 1.0 badge)
She'll be a sleeper one day, just you lot wait
I'm actually in Tadcaster. So a bit closer to Wakefield.
Yup, as "aka_kerrly" said, you can "use the g40 engine in the polo". Lots do it, but why not be totally different? She'll be a sleeper one day, just you lot wait

If you have the cash what about putting the 20vt engine in? Or a blown VR6(bit heavy though). Orrrr, you could opt for a G60 lump and put a 68mm pulley on charger and get it chipped up. You'll get around 200bhp with one of those.
My polos of road as well with a dodgy turbo or summat. Getting overboost and its putting it into limp mode. Ripped turbo off today but all looks good??????
Prob a sensor or MAF, taking it to turbo shop up the road tomorrow for them to give the charger a once over make sure its good to go back in.
Nothings ever straight forward...sigh. lol
I'm a bit new to polos so not entirely sure what fits and what doesn't, more a mk2 golf man tbh. But vag been vag i reckon a good conversion is never far away.

Do like those mark 2 golfs, thanks for pics. Red top engined one must have almost flew!
Yep, it weren't bad mate. Could've done with some wider wheels and tyres cos it just used to spin up like mad. An ABF engine puts out 150bhp but it also had de-cat, full stainless system and induction kit so, it might've been around 160-165bhp. That in a car that weighs little more than a crisp bag and you can imagine what it were like. I'll get some pics of current cars up soon. DubZeus said:
Welcome along, nice collection of cars you've had, love the '67.
That was probably my biggest regret when i had to sell that. I needed something more practical as all my miles were/are mostly motorway and i needed something i could get the fishing gear in.I'll have another beetle or bay/splitty one day.

The Bug is stunning! Love the range of cars you've had in the past. Quite envious.
Thanks mate.Yeah, the beetle was as good as it looked....and very low(for me)it hated speed bumps!!
The range is cos i like to try different motors. Since i started driving i've had allsorts. The Humber Sceptre i had was one of my faves, along with Capri's, Cortinas(mostly mk3's), Minis(the real ones), even had an Allegro(but i try to keep that quiet)!! Lol
Now though, i'm veedub through and through, not because i see them as more reliable(cos they're not)but because i know my way round them. In the future though, i fancy getting my hands on something American and classic...Pontiac GTO springs to mind.
