Mazda 3 MPS wolf in sheeps clothing??
Discussion
Not posted anything of my car up yet so heres some pics ...
bought the car back in november looking like this -
Got the car for £7000 and for the money theres nothing out there that can compete against it in the age/performance it has.
Bought the car with Bilstein B16 coilovers, full turboback CPE exhuast system, HKS EVC6 boost controller, turbo dynamics turbo upgrade and Injun CAI so it was pretty potent!
Shortly after getting the car the vvti actuator pulley gave up and bent a conrod .... I didnt even know that these were issues with the earlier MPS's in fact i didnt even think there was any issues.
So after 3 months without the car I have just got it back and ran in with new bearings, valves, piston rings, and forged H beam rods along with upgraded fuel pump, colder plugs and larger TIP. Oh and goes without saying a remap.
Also fitted some RX8 anniversary wheels and a cheeky (some will say tacky) number plate.
Car does need a general tidy up and will be going on rollers in a few weeks to maybe up the boost and see what its running....
Am gonna get better intercooler when my bank balance has recovered but probably no more engine mods, it seems nippy enough

Thanks guys
Good to hear u sold it.. Hope u didnt have to drop price too much.
60-100 will be about 5-6s i recon so ueah about 11 0-100
Got freinds with other hot hatches but just clio sports and ctr's so cant really compare. Will corner at same speed as the clio sports but the change in direction is more fluid in the clio's due to the weight.
Plan to get it on track later in year when i have tidied up bits and pieces (as well as raise boost and get large IC)

Oj if u tell me ur email i can email u a little comparison of a beep test we did.....
If u listen cafefully u can here his reaction lol
I still cant understand how anyone would choose a ctr over a 3 mps ! The mps is twice the car imo
Very practical car plenty of room for 5 adults and decent boot to match.
Very reliable only issue to be weary of is turbo seals and vvti pulley.
Fuel economy is good too i am on a average of 27mpg over about 1700 miles including a 1/4 mile day and many runs out over lakes, hartside, yorkshire ...
If u can go gently u will get 35-40 mpg on a run at 60-80mph
A recent member averaged 40mpg on his journey back from buying one.

Two engine rebuilds in one year? Can these cars reliably make the power you're making, or have you just been unlucky?
Tbh mine is the highest powered mk1 3 mps that i know of and has 73k on it. Its not so much another rebuild but evidence points at the valve stem seals which maybe should have been replaced during the rebuild considering the mileage?! Also there are very few tuners who have exceeded 310bhp mine recently got 355 on the dyno so its a relitively new territory in UK.
Thanks for all the nice comments.
The mazda 6 mps is such a good value cruiser specially with its 4wd!
