Hi Guys

I own a modified 996 TT and have just done 2 track days(Bedford and Silverstone) with standard break pads, but the red light came on after one evening at Bedford !

I was thinking of using at Pagid pads. Two questions:

1. Which colour/compound (Black or Yellow / RS29)
2. What about squealing, how bad is it ?
3. Should I skim my discs in order to bed the pads in properly?

Thanks for any help!

Get in touch with Rods about this....He's uprated the brakes and pads on his 996 and managed 2 Vmax days and other runway stoppings from hyper-velocity on Pagid I think. Staggering performance.

I'll be very interested in this reply as I'm considering Pagid Yellows (front) and Oranges (rear) for my 996 C4S.

I did quite a bit of research into Pagid pads. The blue ones are a step up on the Porsche std. ones. This is what I went for all-round, with new std. discs on the front of the TT. The pads are better than the std. ones, but do squeal a fair bit. I've just come back from Der Ring, and they were fine on it. I use Castrol SRF break fluid as well which is worth it. All in I'm happy with them, a better brake soultion than the OEM.

Rods, has gone the extra mile for the GT3 Cup brakes:-disc, calipers (3 pot fronts) and pads. Several £k I thinks he said.

But simply staggering....they lit up the sky at Waterbeach barracks on the track 10 days ago....time after time after time.

USed Blues on a 993TT, fine for the rear but disappeared just as quick as OEM on the front.

In the end got a good deal with OEM pads and simply changed them when needed.

They were much cheaper tha Pagid Blue and lasted about the same time, pedal was fine with both.

e.g. Bedford i would go through half set of front pads at £75/ set

Rods has Pagid Blacks in his 6 pots, I also use them in my RSR for sprints/hillclimbs. Great pad with huge friction coefficients but very aggressive on the disc.

My recommendation would be to choose Yellows since the discs will last far longer.

Do not mix colours front/rear as it will make for unpredictable braking performance as they warm up at diferent rates.

Hi Jon,

I am running with a similar brake upgrade to yourself.

I used blacks first time,7-8k miles including 3 vmax, one very long track day and 4 days of serious hooning around Germany.
However they do sqeal like baby pigs.
I have only recently changed to yellows, one vmax so far, great performance without the squeal.

Thanks Guys

Looks like Yellows are the way forward.I understand that there are two types of Yellow pad, the RS19 and the newer RS29 ?

I'll book it in as I am at Terminal Velocity and will need some decent breaks to stop me going off the run way !

RS19's are 29's are basically the same. 29 is just the latest compaund. I run these all round on the RS. They last a long time and are very disc friendly. But they are noisey.

Cheers Sean

I have Pagid Yellows on my 993 RS and they are really noisy. I run them with OE discs. These pads last ages. They are very good on track and road.
