I guess curiosity got the better of me ....
No going back now. This will be all the way:
Bare metal interior, RS CS welded cage, Sunroof delete, no sound deadening, 3.8, SMF, G50/32, M003 dash, manual windows, central locking delete, manual wing mirrors, fog light toggle delete, wiper speed delete, dash dimmer delete, M003 sun visors, Battery cut off, Ali bonnet, RS water bottle, shock tower seam welding, Tow panel double skin, lightweight side and rear glass, RS wiring loom, M003 front and rear spoilers, M003 cloth buckets, 25.4 mater cylinder, RS gearbox mount, RS drive shafts & CV's ... etc

Hhhmmm..I'm not sure I totally get the point?
That is the point .... that there IS NO POINT. And thus, in this way, it reflects and resonates with this mad, bad, bittersweet universe which we all inhabit. In fact there is nothing worse in life than things which have a point, an end position, a consequentiality, a perfectly resolving masterplan and a rigid dogma about them. Emotion, that's all there is.Your last 2 lines were spot on though.
Started the day like this:
The glues doesn't show up that well against yellow in pictures but there sure is plenty there.
I got the DA polisher out and gave all surfaces a quick going over to scrub off some of teh remaining sound deadening:
At first, with Xylene and rubbing with rags NOTHING happened .... the glue was mostly just too thick and abrasive microfibres soaked in solvent will simply not do it. It took me a while to work out all sorts of techniques with credit cards, edges of black CD's and other such scraping utensils. Really thick patches need a LOT of work so its best to concentrate on small 3cm x 3cm areas at a time. You need a lot of solvent .... scraper in one hand and a spray bottle of Xylene in the other, replenishing the solvent at very regular intervals like some sort of dental assistant.
This is about 4 hours work in total. One seat done, the central hump and one side of the left hand seat. Not too bad once you have worked out your system and quite satisfying in that cleaning sort of way. So messy though .... glue everywhere including your rubbush bag, your gloves, shoes, trousers so everytime you try and do anything you get stuck to something and have to peel yourself away.

on the home straight now though .... cut up some dvd boxes and today did more hard elbow grease rubbing with microfibres as well as scraping
Today I completed another 2.5 hours. I suppose it feels like its dragging now. A part of me thinks i'm close to home but truth be told there is still a fair bit to do. When you're expeting to make fast headway you never do.
First job was to get the drivers seat out. Ran into a major stumbling block here as one of the cap heads was on so tight and it ended up getting nice and chewed and rounded. Took me 20 minutes or so but I had to hammer all sorts of stuff in there to force it round. Also had to remove all the other seat screws and rotate the whole seat around a little to help the thing budge.
Today I refrained from getting into the mask and equipping the Xylene, just was not in the mood to get into all that and besides I am running low on the solvent and need to order some more.
I did what I could with the ball rolling technique, starting with the offside sill. I then did some ball rolling on the vertical panel of the offisde rear seat which did lift quite a bit of the thick glue.
Also removed the carpet and sound deadening around the tranmission tunnel and in the front footwells.
So not too long to go now. Just need a really good session on those rear footwells and then attack the tranmission tunnel and we're done.
Incidentally, I've been told to not bother with the loom as that will be unwrapped and re-wrapped in any case as the plan is to strip it back to an RS loom. There are a lot of things that won't need power anymore .... rear speakers, rear wiper assembly, rear spoiler, rear bootlid light, sunroof, central locking, electric windows, rear window heater element etc.
If you could hold the rear seats, all that carpet and sound deadening in your hands all at the same time .... like lifting a hippopotamus.
And those hardbacks .... stupid heavy. You should have to pay folk 4k to have them take them off your hands, not the other way round !
Remember, when you fit the RS speedlines and RS brakes, you add 500kg which you then need to remove.

A good 3 hours today.
Tackled the hateful offside rear footwell, probably the worst section of the lot; a thick river of glue down in the corners and crevices. Still it was a lovely sunny day and I just took my time in a pair of shorts with the sunshine beating down .... glue ball, rag, xylene, rag, scraper, rag, fingernail, xylene, glue ball etc etc..
After that I pulled the small carpet pieces out from around the pedal box and took the remaining glue off there. That was uncomfrtable to say the least, lying flat on my tummy across the whole floorpan. Did the rear piece of transmission tunnel after that then did 80% of the nearside rear footwell too.
After that I gave her a real good wipe all over. Loosened up some of the stray dirt on the floors and inbetween all the modules and electrical boxes under the seats and then vacuumed everywhere.
A good afternoons work. Just have to finish the nearside rear footwell which will be a doddle, and then complete the forward sides of the transmission tunnel and then the only task left will be to go back over everything with a careful 'final finish' in preparation for handover.
Hurrah ! Almot done ...

ha ha .. like the Mankini !
@SD, really not certain. Some folk cite a steamer as a good tool in the early stages of pulling the carpet/sound deadening off but I honestly can't imagine it would do that much good with the thick glue patches. It will definitely soften it all up but you still have to use a ton of elbow grease and a solvent of some sort to actually get it off.
Remember that not all glue/cars are created equal and some cars have the harder browner glue which is a synch to get off apparently. As far as the glue i had goes, I refuse to believe that there is any simple wipe on/wipe off process to remove it. Actually corret that, there is a simple way and that's with dry ice but that's an expensive route I didn't fancy going down. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqHwq6Fkr3U)
