That car is worthless - it’s got the wrong headlights and also it’s only got one wiper blade - some people really don’t know how to spec a car properly !
Hey tdt,its worth even less with owners on here, guess what it has no front lift,i bet a opc will tell the future owner anything ! You should have ticked the box on ceramics and front lift, what do you mean you have air jacks, nobody will want that spec!Hunter let me know if you want to,i will see what i can do,it does sell out fast.

Hi Yellow. I’m just prepping my car for Oulton and the team are saying ‘no way you will get on at Oulton with a Standard exhaust, Oulton is as bad as Brands, wasting your money blah blah’.
I’m getting a bit twitchy.. are you confident that an unsilenced 997 cup will get on?
What do you mean unsilenced!,no a car with straight through/unsileced will not,but a standard 997cup with its silencer system should be fine, the 991 was fine and fairly loud with it standard cup silencers etc.I’m getting a bit twitchy.. are you confident that an unsilenced 997 cup will get on?

Fortunately first race , so still did not use the Kerbs to heavily ...... forget about GT4 strut support fracture , could have lost many bottles of wine.
Strange in those days scrutineering was lax as were many other things although I was black flagged near the end of qualifying for only having short sleeves . Did have a great set of "driving " gloves with holes in the back .
Few genuinely appreciate the very real dangers of driving in such driving gloves Peter ...Strange in those days scrutineering was lax as were many other things although I was black flagged near the end of qualifying for only having short sleeves . Was ok up until Noon. Then decent rain for about 2hours. Track stayed open until lunch at 1300. And reopened at 1400 after lunch. And stayed open for the rest of the day. I left at about 1630 in the end.
Nice to meet Taffy66, Farooq and the spa crew at The Alvanely Arms, top guys.
Always the same there hence I don’t book on it, and decided the 5 hour round trip was not worth a visit, hope you guys had fun, let’s try and get the date moved, for such a big event it’s a shame to have it early March. But been saying that for 10 years to no a avail.Nice to meet Taffy66, Farooq and the spa crew at The Alvanely Arms, top guys.

It’s not, I Been going for the last 7 years and this was the first wet afternoon I can remember. Sure there’s a few damp starts but on the whole it’s been a very lucky event weather wise.
A late spring or summer date would be great, a two dayer even better for those travelling a distance.
Its a early starter to kick the season off,low price and sold out,the rain is good to learn your car etc.
Possible next year for a two day event for the 20th meet, may be the tarmac rally track available as well.

Just arrived home about an hour ago..What a surreal experience for a total track novice like myself in more ways than one..I don't ever recall meeting so many great like minded down to earth guys in my lifetime....not an ego or 'know it all' in sight..how refreshing..As a novice and my first ever time at Oulton coupled my GT3's first time on track, to say i was totally unprepared both psychologically and physically is a massive understatement to say the least..I seriously need some instruction to mix it with you guys on track.
Luckily for me my good mate Digga sensed my predicament, and correspondingly had not only had to watch his own car but also had to contend with nursemaiding 'yours truly' which took some unwavering patience..What a great guy he is and a damned good driver despite his typical modest self saying otherwise..Many thanks Digga..!
Also a very special thanks to Yellow 491 for taking me out for some laps in his amazing 45 year old 911 RS R in the pouring rain..What an amazing car especially in the hands of a truly gifted driver.!
I was blown away by the GT4s on track namely TDT ,Farook and Boxsey, all of which i was lucky enough to enjoy a dining table with on Thursday night..Again all great guys..Watching ChrisW drive his Racing yellow GT4 around Oulton in the pouring rain at astonishing speeds will stay with me for a long time....the guy cannot be human..!!!
Finally another huge thanks to Yellow491 for inviting me to join him and his gang of very merry men for a relaxing Friday evening, dining in the Alvaney Arms..All top guys and what stories they had to tell...Enjoyed the banter very much and hope to repeat it next year..

Great day as usual, pretty quiet on track though! Wife and I were sharing her 964, deffo use much less tyres, brakes and fuel on a wet day. Forgot to hook the camera up in the morning but recorded a few gentle sessions in the rain. Hope next year can be a 2 dayer - that would be mega, can count on us to book it if its organised.
Ran all the way to the chequered flag at 5pm - sun was just coming out for the last couple of laps on an empty track.

Yes they are talking wet line, problem on a track day is not every one is expecting you to go where you want to go for the wet line.
The corner is way easier now than it used to be,The first curb is now not used by most since the corner changed years ago,and the bump fairly much gone on exit, also the barriers moved way back after all the caranage of the years!

..... if there is good grip on a conventional line, use it!! I looked after two drivers on the day, and neither had a problem, remember, the earlier you turn the least amount of steering input you have, and combine that with turning in on the brakes, and the car goes round like it is on rails, and still managing to have the steering straight as the car goes over the rise at the exit!!
Regarding the corner changing, the only thing that has changed is the surrounding area, the corner is just the same as it was 34 years ago when i first raced there, and the rise as you exit the corner has barely changed either!
Grip was available in different locations as conditions changed. When it was full wet I found more grip with the loaded wheels outside the racing line at Druids. That’s what we were talking about earlier. Even in full wet the bump was not in itself a problem, the wheelspin on the standing water beyond it was more of an issue to me. From a personal point of view considering the conditions, Druids felt less of a challenge than it has done before. Regarding the corner changing, the only thing that has changed is the surrounding area, the corner is just the same as it was 34 years ago when i first raced there, and the rise as you exit the corner has barely changed either!
Differant cars need varying ways to go around corners,my car on the day,no chance of going in on the brakes in the wet.

Why on earth would you want to turn in later?? Any car feels horrendous if you take that line!!! I'm afraid I would have to disagree regarding your sentiments about different cars needing varying lines to go round corners, and when you suggest that there is no chance of going in on the brakes, demonstrates to me, exactly how little you understand about driving a car!!!!
You are clearly not worth a reply with a response similar to how R operates on here, stick to your ginetta etc thanks.Digga said:

Not doubting your experience. Certainly, it's going to be far greater than mine, but trying to absorb the 'right' advice (apropos of my question about Druids) are you saying all cars should use the same line? The Driver61 video seems to expand (at 38mins 35sec) on the matter a bit more than that, by giving the overall 'right' line, but explaining how and why there may be variances: https://youtu.be/Slaab9SjWys?t=2239
Sorry i missed you steve,i did come down to your garage twice, but you were out.We did have a little chuckle peter maca and i,but we have all been there one time or another. The important part is out having fun and no harm done, after all it was slippery in places ,the low temps as well as wet did not help, thats on page 105 of the racers handbook;)

hanks.
Looking at other driver's in car videos and also knowing how my car was turning in, that line makes sense. Of all the corners, it felt like that was the one I left the most on the table, Will wait for a dry track I think!
Thats a good idea digga, get a dry session, that corner can be very rewarding to get right, get its respect and then start exploring when wet.Looking at other driver's in car videos and also knowing how my car was turning in, that line makes sense. Some of the vids on line are great to show you around etc,but some lines are different if its a single seater line that you try and follow with generaly your less grip road car etc.The video you put up is great and gives some good understanding of varying lines etc
My car on the day ,it was important to get the car balanced as much as possible when i turn in wet,all my braking done as straight as i can before i turn into the corner and only ever touch the throttle to balance the car into and through the corner which obviuosly differs from others.
In the dry i can get away with a lot more in the old girl,in one of the more modern cars i can brake into apex’s wet or dry which helps keep good grip on the front tyres.
