Cayman R - manual or PDK?
Discussion
yes mine, not for sale though atm might be when the GT4 spec are released, it's a very high spec car, buckets, manual, leather dash etc.
5 cars stuck for sale at the OPC's all PDK, says it all really.
I did think about selling last week, and test drove a few cars, well the R8 V10 PLUS which I really liked, but letting go of the R just seems too hard, and I don't think the GT4 is going to cut it either, it's not the Porsche way to step on the 911 toes.
good hunting, if you need/want any questions about R's just ask.

Personally I'd say it has to be manual option for the R or Spyder.
Personal choice though, it would be what you're after ultimately, not everyone else's thoughts.
Drove an auto spyder and hated it! Ruined it in my view.
........ That yellow R looks fantastic. I so wish that had been a colour option on the Spyder without resorting to PTS.

Could be a reflection on original spec mix? Wonder what the manual v PDK ratio was when specified new.
That said I agree manual seems more in keeping with the cars ethos

120 PDK
ish some have gone missing or maybe now sold out the UK.
out of the 108 manual cars though, I guess less than 1/2 again with buckets and Spyder wheels.
Add PSE, SS, buckets, spyder wheels, sports mode, AC, PCM, leather dash 20 odd Manual UK cars maybe less.
Without a doubt a go with a manual!!
The 'right' spec ones do seem to get snapped up quickly - I was lucky to find mine (White - Manual, blk spyder wheels, buckets, PSE, Sports Chrono, shortshift, xenons, climate, sound plus).
I also have my name down for the GT4, so could well be selling up depending on the revealed spec.

Personal preference - the Cayman R is sought after because it marks the end of an era of analogue cars.
If you are buying it to enjoy well tuned passive dampers, hydraulic steering and almost switchoffable stability systems - then go the whole hog and buy a manual.

I've owned my Manual, with sports exhaust, buckets and ceramics for around 3 months now and it really is an addictive thing. Early morning blasts into North Wales have never been so fun.
I had PDK on the 981s I owned and felt that it really dumbed down the driving experience.
I'd recommend the Sport Shifter option if you can find one, or retro fit it. It really tightens up the gear shift feel.
Good luck on your hunt

Would I have seen you commuting round and about the Manchester Airport/Wilmslow/Altrincham Rd area in your car during the last couple of weeks, by any chance?I've owned my Manual, with sports exhaust, buckets and ceramics for around 3 months now and it really is an addictive thing.
