Macan, standard hifi or Bose?
Discussion
I,ll be pondering the spec of my pending Macan until it's build date middle of 2017, the demo I have at present has a Bose, but as in my 991 I,m not particularly impressed with sound in either to be honest, but I,ve not heard the standard hifi yet. Is it really that bad I need the Bose as a minimum? Has anyone had any aftermarket enhancements done to the sound system?
If its any help at all and depending on which Macan you go for (I have Diesel S) the cabin is very quiet indeed thus the quality of the radio can be useful.
I'm amazed how little volume i use in mine as the car is so well insulated from outside noise. The 911 is very different indeed for cabin noise.

Don't know about the Macan but had two Cayennes one with Bose and one without and the Bose was so much better than the standard system.
My wife just got. Macan with Bose last week, and the sound is very impressive. It was one of the first things she commented on after first day with the car.spareparts said:
Our Macan has the heat and noise insulating glass option (VW5) and the Bose (with new Carplay infotainment). The noise insulating glass makes the cabin virtually silent and allows the sound to really come alive. Highly recommended combination with the Bose.
That's also what's on my wife's car. GT3cs said:
Ive just picked up a new Turbo PP and it has the new info system with Bose . I'm very impressed by it . It seems much cleaner than the Bose in my "old" version Macans.
What do you think of the Turbo PP - you must have one of the very first cars. I'm hoping to get a build date for mine very shortly, can't wait!SIXSM said:
I think the Bose system was updated / maybe more power when the new nav system was introduced for the 2016 model year cars. I find the latest Bose set up is excellent and well worth the upgrade. It's not going to blow your socks off but a very good set up overall for the price.
I think you're right here. I ve just picked up a new Cayenne Disel S with the new PCM and standard system and its night and day compared to the last PCM on my 2015 Cayenne. The standard system is now very good so I would imagine the Bose is superb.
We had a Macan I deliberately didn't tick the Bose option because for me it lacked depth & clarity compared to what I'm used to also I'm lucky enough to have a very good audio specialist near me & he produced a much nicer sound for the similar money, although if you don't want to lose your car for another day then the Bose is okay.
I can only comment on the Bose as I experienced it in a 718 Boxster - but it might be relevant.
To gain the advantages of the Bose in the 2-seater in the Bose sub-menu you have to:
1. Tick the Surround option.
2. Tick the Linear response option.
3. Set the Fader to be biased towards the rear - just -2 to -3 makes all the difference.
Bottom line is that you have to ensure you've tried all the settings/options.
In the Boxster, with the above settings, Bose is, to me, a clear step up over the base setup.

Can I take it there is no disturbance to the dash? Where the speakers changed?Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
