Cannot decide which one to buy. To be used 50/50 track/road. Anyone that has experience from both?

Cheers

Bit of a subjective question. You probably need to drive both.

If you want one persons opinion, you'll be able to guess my favourite from my profile

Problem is that i will not have the opportunity to drive both.... I've been a passenger in both, but not driven any of them. Currently the GT2 is a little bit more expensive than the RS. Which one will keep its value best? I love the lightness of the RS and the NA engine, but the GT2 has better looks and A LOT more torque... DanH, have you driven both?

RS is a better drivers car, although more for the track than the road.

But still, wouldn't the GT2 be a car that you never could be bored of and takes years and years to "master"?

It takes years and years to master an RS too. I guess if you can't drive them both then simply decide whether you like NA or turbos more. Personally I like the throttle response, the sound, the wide rev band and the way power builds with NA. If you like monster torque and a sudden shove in the back you may prefer the turbo. FWIW I think driving a GT2 fast out of corners on a track would be incredibly difficult with all that torque, and for me one of the joys of a 911 is getting it hooked up out of a corner.

I've owned both and the RS is the keeper. The GT2 is a wow on the trust from the Torque but in the real world no faster than the RS (ignoring the straight line magazine times, this is with my limited driving). So then it comes down to feel and the RS just feels special, alive in your hands in a way the GT2 doesn't, which ultimately is one of the limitations (and yes I did sort the geo on the car and it was much better than factory settings).

My view, and only my view after a good number of miles in the GT2, which was a club sort so trim wise very similar to the RS so no differences from seats etc, the GT2 felt halfway between a 450 Turbo and the RS in character.

Depends what you're after, but I don't believe for us mortals we'll every 'master' either car to it's full potential!

Thanks for your input! Prehaps the most tempting about the GT2 is that prices have fallen £50-60 since new...

Do you have to change the dampers on the GT2 or is just a different setting than the factory one?

RS, no question! You need to do a few changes to the GT2 mk1's suspension if you buy one.

It's all geo changes, nothing needs changing on the car to make it more stable and easier to drive, but still will not give the feel of the RS.

Whichever way you go they are both great cars and loads of fun to own.

Do you know where I can find the best settings? Website anywhere?

The settings themselves are a bit of a guarded secret, the companies who've done all the work sorting them out don't like them being freely available.

Try talking to various specialists? Sorry can't be of more help.

ask on rennlist about geo settings, they seem to be a bit less secretive

Never driven an RS, but the GT2 is incredible fun on the road; the amount of go defies belief and I don't (yet) subscribe to all the GT2 horror stories; go easy with the right foot and it seems to have stayed with the front wheels at the front (so far, obviously house prices can go down as well as up!)

I love the look of the blue GT3RS, but I equally love the GT2. Horses for courses I guess.

The GT2 is nothing like the Turbo.

They're both epic cars and both likely to kill you in the wrong hands.

RS is the best drive of the three. A very special car indeed.

Porsche did quite a few changes on the suspension for GT2 mk2, better sorted.
