Cayman Air-con Leaking / Broken
Discussion
I have a 2007 Cayman 2.7. Which after hearing a hissing noise discovered an oily fluid, similar in colour and consistancy to Fairy washing up liquid dripping from somewhere in front on the rear right hand wheel. All vital fluids seem OK, but I realised today that my air conditioning doesn't work.
So, naturally I presume the two are related. Has anyone had any experience of this failure and how it is fixed?
I have an after-market warranty, so will use this is necessary.
Cheers.

Hi,
Yes fairly common failure on Cayman,911 and Boxster models. More than likely it needs a new condenser but I am afraid like most things it probably will not be covered by aftermarket warranty as it is probably due to impact damage or corrosion seems favourite.
Try it, cost to replace one of the two condensers and re-gas the system should be in the region of £450.00

I had this problem last year so i decided to tackle it myself i bought two new condensers from euro parts and fitted them myself. I'm not a mechanic but it only took me two hours to fit the new ones then i took it to get gassed up and had no leaks which i was well chuffed and saved myself £350.00 too.On youtube there is a video on how to do it .
Cheers for the replies, especially the extra hassle of photos, but the leaking and hissing was from in front of the rear tyre, so I presume it must be something different that's broken / damaged.
It's really hard to see where the leaking is coming from, everything seems so tightly packaged in that area.

Hi All - I'm new to this forum, can I ask how much your warranty direct policy cost you. I have just recently bought a 2002 C4S and they quoted my £935 for 12 months!
Keen to go for a warranty but not sure which one to go for... I'm based near Heathrow...
Thanks and sorry to jack the thread!
