Which reminds me - my dealer phoned to give an update on the car yesterday and mentioned having a tracker fitted!
£1145 inc VAT and fitting plus £250 to Vodafone!
How many people have gone down this route and is it worthwhile?
I know some insurance companies stipulate the need for one but with the others that don't will a tracker save me more than the outlay over the next 3-4 years?

It depends if you need a Cat 5 or not. If, like me your insurance company is happy with a Cat 6 then just get something like a Trackstar TM470 for 200 quid fitted http://www.trackerfit.co.uk/brands/trafficmaster.h...£1145 inc VAT and fitting plus £250 to Vodafone!

Thats what I'm doing. Makes the Porsche system look very expensive.

Had a quote for the Cobratrak fitted elsewhere for £750.
But given I have heard for some dead tracker / issues with them and finger posting before I wanted someone who I knew I could go to if there was an issue.
Felt dirty paying the Porsche tax but sometimes it's just easier fot peace of mind knowing any problems at all a single call and no wriggle room.

Thats funny! My wife doesn't care what i spend on cars but if she knew I was spending over a grand on PPF then she'd want a diamond ring!
Lol don't get me started, she thinks my £2k worth of detailing and PPF is £500. Good job I look after the finances and she's not on Pistonheads!P155flaps said:

I am however a little disappointed to find out that it needs a separate fob to be carried at all times. Even my Aston tracker allows me to pair with my phone via Bluetooth instead of the fob - and Aston tech is known for being a little bit behind the times!

Ditto - I have gone with PVTS also. I'm aware there are better systems for less cost but in the end I felt more comfy having the Porsche system and avoiding any hassle/warranty/resale issues.

the aston system and the porsche system are both frankly crap.I have had multiple phone calls from them when I am in the car driving it with my fobs and phone .I am however a little disappointed to find out that it needs a separate fob to be carried at all times. Agree about the extra for the pvts, most of the non pvts systems are wired into the PCM unit and if you do get problems porsche will do their utmost to avoid any liability.

Couple of people have recommended Manning UK. Well I asked them for a quote on the 16th and so far .... diddly!
Indication of their lack of customer support?
They were actually cheapest for me and were pretty responsive but I didn't go with them as wanted agreed value (which they don't do). I actually had a call back from Ann Manning direct when I queried how Amlin would assess market value, seemed a nice lady.Indication of their lack of customer support?
Same with classic line (both Market Value and classic line view on how market value would be paid not great!).
Nearly went with NPA (Dual private client) for a whopping £1600 (but lots of benefits like anyone over 30 drive car / you fully comp on others).
In the end after much ringing round went with Matt @ Henderson Taylor, agreed value, 6 track days, also with a mate to drive so he can share the driving on longer journeys and was £1001 not the cheapest but a good balance for me.

If insurance co don't insist on a tracker then I would NOT fit one.£1145 inc VAT and fitting plus £250 to Vodafone!
