Gents,
On the subject of tyres whether I keep or sell the car it will need a set soon, I knew this when I bought it, so apart from the FK452's what else is worth considering that wont break the bank ....
Blackcircles quoting £510 for all four fitted which I thought was ok ....
Any other suggestions ??
FK452's are quite a good tyre (I think I've had about 6 sets over the years) however they do seem to wear out quickly in my experience (I have a theory that they achieve their reasonable levels of grip at the expense of wear)On the subject of tyres whether I keep or sell the car it will need a set soon, I knew this when I bought it, so apart from the FK452's what else is worth considering that wont break the bank ....

Realistically, £510 for four tyres fitted is pretty good value, and I doubt you'll get much better than that without going the Nankang route (please don't).

Cheers, alternatives don't need to be cheaper, just not stupid money, guess in my head I was expecting to pay c£600 so really looking for decent or better rubber (maybe) that isn't silly money.....
What about Toyos? Are the new ones the PX4s or something? Years back I ran with some T1Rs and they were decent and well priced.
Also think Avon are affordable, but never ran any. I always consult camskill to see what is cheapest, they tend to be comparable to BlackCircles, but you need to get them fitted yourself.

A cheapo Boxster 2.7 is definitely on my to-do list. I think it would have to be silver with red leather, then Guards, but then that amazon green one is also really nice. Sets the rear light clusters off beautifully.
It's a shame Porsche couldn't have got it looking a bit more like the original concept, which was stunning.

A chap on here recently got a full set on Conti (N2's) for around the £700 quid mark. Might the same tyres be closer to £600 in Boxster sizes perhaps?

For the tyres, have you tried kwik fit online? I put a full set of N2 continentals on my 2000 boxster S (on 17's) just before Christmas for £602 - they do a big online discount, so that's worth a look if you might keep it a while...

Just put a deposit on a 986 Boxster S. Not quite as poverty in price as some here as the prices have just started to pick up
Nervous and excited now!
Cool, enjoy and be sure to get a pic up here, or link the ad so we can see, one mans poverty is another mans rag to riches story !!!Nervous and excited now!
Be inetersting to see what you picked up and for how much ... I'm already browsing the ads for a 3.2S ;-) I think I may have found our ideal 2nd car for the household in a Boxster .....

Tell me about it!Nervous and excited now!
They seem to be about £1k more than this time last year.
Ive been following this thread with interest, a bit of poverty Porsche Boxster is attainable for me.
However I finally got to sit in my mates 2005 Boxster S last week. At 6'4" I found the leg room was just not enough. I needed the seat to back about 3 more inches than it could.
Thats where the 2+2's work best for me.

2005 - was it a late 986 or an early 987?However I finally got to sit in my mates 2005 Boxster S last week. At 6'4" I found the leg room was just not enough. I needed the seat to back about 3 more inches than it could.

I heard the 987 had more interior space.
