It'll be a pre-facelift 997 prototype then.

If you look in the 997 PH classifieds there are loads of these 996 imposters littering the pages.

One of the dirtiest engine bays I've ever seen. Anybody would think it'd have "Clean Me" written on it by now. Simply disgraceful.

Take the model out of it, but I think the black car looks soooo much better than the silver one - Much more presence.

And mine's silver!

I don't know why some people call the 993 an old banger.

That's a 993, they don't rust. Someone stole the 997 before the pictures where taken. But it's the thought that counts

Well i have owned many variations of the air cooled engines. I started with the mechanical injection 2.7 911s, then went on to a 3.2 G50, followed by a 3.0sc, a 964 and finally I have currently a 996.1 C2. I have to say that the older air cooled cars just had so much apeal in terms of character. They sounded so much better and raw. The 996 is a good car dont get me wrong but build quality is not better than the air cooled versions. The pick of all air cooled are the 993's which I must say is such a beautiful car.

I started my 911 ownership with a new 997S, lovely car but lacked the soul and character of the old air cooled cars. I suppose i did the ownership thing back to front really, starting of with what at the time was the most upto date model in 2006.
I have a small collection of aircooled 911s, and have got to know the construction and build quality through minor improvements, etc etc. They are the most beautifully built cars, and the 993 is so solid and well built. It's all down to individual wants etc though, and all 911s offer something for most tastes.smile

Keep a Lancia this clean and only drive 1000 miles per annum on dry roads and it wouldn't rust either.

C'mon guys this is museum piece not a car hehe
