So as a compromise could I get away with 20" wheels with PASM only in lieu of full Air Suspension plus PASM?

My budget is being stretched and if I go for full Air I would need to drop to 19" wheels. Too many options!!!!
Personally? 18"s and PASM. All I see for oversized wheels are downsides; harsher ride, poorer steering feel, more expensive tyres, propensity for rim damage.

Upsides are impressing people on forums.

Disagree. 18's just don't look right on a vehicle the size of this, it's got to be 20 or 21's to maintain asthetics. And as I mentioned before, the words 'harsh' and 'ride' don't even come into the conversation for any tyre size on the Cayenne Diesel - period.
And your assertion that poorer steering feel comes with lower profile tyres is somewhat back to front.

Yes, the tyres are a little more pricey (even though you are getting less rubber), and the rims stand more chance of ruining your day, but I'm sure you will be just fine with 20's (not the Spiders unless you like bending down for long periods at a time) and PASM (which is seen as a must come resale time.

Aesthetics? This is a Cayenne we're talking about!

Increasing unsprung weight will effect steering feel for the worse, its not that difficult to understand.

Roof rails ?

I would say "yes". They cannot be fitted to the car retrospectively. The boot on the car when fully loaded with passengers -i.e. rear seats are slid all the way back for legroom - is actually smaller than you might think. Roof rails give you the option of putting a roof box on which is exactly what I had to do when we drove down to France a year or so ago.
Yes, but you don't need them to add a roof box later.

I don't have them on mine, yet bought this product which I've found works perfectly :

Having a nightmare with Admiral
I can't believe someone will spend c£60k on a car yet skimp on insurance and go with someone like this.

Use a proper insurance broker for piece of mind and possibly cheaper too! Can highly recommend one if needed

It was all sorted with Admiral, the original guy I was speaking too was new and didn't have a clue, spoke to his superior and sorted.

I have been with Admiral for a few years, had to make one claim with them and they were very good indeed, this is when you know if your insurance company is anygood!!

It's all personal taste but I totally agree - anything less than 20's and the car doesn't look so good.

I seem to remember that the consensus of opinion in the past was that 20's with PASM worked OK but if you planned to have 21's you would probably be better with Air.

I have been using Thule Roof Bars which are great and you can fix a roof box to those if need be. The advantage is that when not being used they can be removed.

Ordered my car with the following build subject to any minor amendments I may decide on over the weekend!

Jet Black Metallic
Std Black Partial Leather Interior
8 Speed Tiptronic
Model Designation Deletion
20" RS Spyder Design Wheel
All Season Tyres
Colour Wheel Hub Covers
Auto Tailgate
Park Assist
Bi-Xenon
Air Suspension with PASM
Servotronic
Multi-Function Steering Wheel
Heated Front Seats
Light Comfort Pack
Floor Mats
100 litre Fuel Tank
PCM + Nav
Phone Module
DAB
Universal Audio Interface

Had to sacrifice the BOSE but as I listen mostly to 5 Live, Talksport, Radio 4, thought I could manage without it. I know my head is telling me that 18" wheels make more sense (ride and price) but the larger wheels definitely look better. I'll just have to accept that I'm shallow!

Now do I knock out the colour hubs, light pack, multi-function steering and change the wheels to the 20" Cayenne Sport Design II then chuck in an extra £420 and get the Panoramic Roof instead...........can't quite decide. Suppose the wheels would be easier to clean!!

impossible to retrofit panoramic roof, so best spec it now ...

Mine has arrived too

Looks fab. Mine is identical to your exterior wise (black/black wheel arch extensions, debadge/Turbo II alloys, sports tail pipes), with the exception of smoked rear lenses. I thought they might look a bit drug dealer/gansta/brother etc.. but seeing your they really suit it well.

Great looking car ! Congrats.

Yes, you could use the aftermarket options agreed. Having used some before - not on this car - and not been happy with them I decided against it. You've both made very vaild points though so fair play,

Regardless of the above, I like the look of the car with the factory items on so I was always going to order them and then they turned out to be useful. Result.

smile The Panoramic roof is superb, you should get that!

.. although now I'm in Sydney it's not much use as the blind is over most of the time!

Compromise is always difficult. I wouldn't do without the M/F steering wheel as it has a lot more functionality than you may realise. I use it a lot and would not be without it. I guess you could knock out the hubs, light pack and servotronic ( personally, not something I would find essential) and find the extra (having negotiated with the OPC). You need to sit in a a vehicle with the panoramic roof and one without to determine how important it is to you.

Don't hurry your final decision.
