At bit about the st i was custodian for,ex factory car,one of 4 that had the double inner wing for strengthening for rallying,a true thin gauge lwt steel body with factory plastic front wings, balsa wood plastic bonnet, thin steel roof ,alu rear lid, thin gauge doors, etc etc.
The car was supplied with out a engine fitted, but three engines,2.0ltr,a 2.3 and a 2.5,which would fit into most rally groups. It finished 11th &17th overall in the targa florio in 1972 and 73 plus class winner,i miss the old girl now although the rsr is a st on steriods!
Looks lovely Paul. I'm sure you do miss her !!

Wow what a privilege to have been custodian of that ! Were all three engines built for it at the factory or were they acquired along the way by previous owners ?

Goodness knows what that would be worth now.

No thats how it was supplied from the factory into southern italy ,no engine fitted in the car but with 3 factory enginessmilefirst targa florio it was in the 2.0ltr class.
You would probably need more than 1.2 to purchase such a car.

I am sure....probably quite a bit more. I met a guy who works for one of the dealers who would consign a car like that last year..it was interesting chatting to him about how a car like that finds a new home. He said they’d sold one of the original R’s for £4mil in the first half of last year....clearly an R is next level Unicorn though!

Love the hammer in the passenger footwell!

Don’t think this vid really applies to this thread but anyone drooling over these cars will I feel be sure to enjoy it. Not really a fan of Mr JWW but this is a brilliant video. Guy Berryman of Coldplay has a pretty incredible car collection, incredibly eclectic and bar the one relatively modern car just screams the bloke is a genuine car enthusiast that happens to be able to enjoy his passion. Features three old Porsche’s, two of which I doubt anyone would guess. The one thing that is relevant is that one of his Porsche’s was entrusted to Tuthill for a restoration keeping the car totally original.

Fast forward to 2mins 40 secs. Hang in there through the misfire, and marvel at the commitment once the misfire is fixed and the old girls fully on song smile

Spare car to carry on

Before the 4 day 800 mile tour brittania, which was circuit raceing ,tarmac rally stages and hillclimbs ,two pristine st ready for the event, the green st we had scruted just in case!also we planned to tow it around the event as a endless spares package as the plan, which did not go to well at the first event which was snett in the wet,we did win the event the year before.

The bitza at the front stalled, the lwt etype went into the back of the bitza, and i scooped the etype up.The damage was not structural, just wing, bumper, bonnet and one front cooler.
