Indeed, so far, so good and indications from other owners are good. Time will tell.This is our first RR and with it being a newly launched model, I was expecting some issues with the hope, it wasn't going to be a total disaster. I took the plunge having experienced 7 trouble free years with a D3 and D4. I nearly went for an RR back in 2003 but opted for a Cayenne due to poor RR reliability as well as the better driving experience of the Cayenne.

Thanks - my wheel size is 20 and I live in the South so most of the year we don't usually see a lot of snow but am vaguely considering it for this Winter.

On reflection I probably should have gone for all weather when I replaced my last set but I now have a set of relatively new summer tyres and am looking for the best option for a winter tyre and would be interested to know others opinions of using winter tyres and brands.nomank said:

Thanks for the compliment, absolutely like the day I got the car, but I have never let anyone clean the car, I do it myself, good scrub with some soft brushes and car shampoo is all it needs, cars going in for a service in 2 weeks, and I mentioned please do not wash the car, and the the lady at service desk said yes we have a note on your records, LOL.Great looking car you have there! Well after much faffing around due to just sheer lack of time I FINALLY managed to get mine done. I know there are bound to be some haters but I think they look stunning and just sad that I didn't get them done sooner
Only thing letting them down now are the worn out wheel centre crests...

Reasonably below average OPC, like most garages doesn't take as much car of our cars as we do. Chunk out of middle of wheel, as it if was laid on the ground and they dropped a spanner on it.Was that the noise scenario I read in one of your posts ?

Pesky ticking noise as earlier posts. Sounds just like wheel bearing issue on C6 RS6. OPC agreed it wasn't right, insisted it was brake pads, I couldn't reason with them as to why it wasn't physically possible to be pads. I had to authorise pads change for me to pick up the bill. Unsurprisingly this made no difference. After more toing and froing with the factory, they then claimed it was standard to model. Gradually getting worse still, just passed 30k miles. Will see how it looks at next service at 40K, and probably replace the bearings myself if I don't get traction with the OPC.
Like others have said however they all do it. Can hear the same noise, although a magnitude quieter on a demo loaner they lent me and a chums six month old Platinum.
It remains a great smoker for a long commute !
I've just hit 33k miles in mine, no ticking noise but I've got a low frequency drone that appears above 70mph and is relative to road speed, not engine. I thought about wheel bearings but it's fine round the town and on carriageways, and there's no noise under load during cornering, so I'm starting to think it's the Michelins.
After being nice and quiet from full tread depth, they're now starting to 'drum' at speed (I'm on 21's btw), and as they're about 35% worn after 13k miles I'm guessing this droning may be another resonance characteristic with these make of boots (the Pirelli's drummed but didn't drone).
Time will tell, it's not loud enough to take in yet. I'll have to see how it manifests itself. Oh, and I didn't take the third year warranty either.

Put new rear pair on yesterday, £510 pair fitted at ProTyre, with £50 fuel card cashback thing from Michelin. Ride and feel has been improved, droning has gone. I forgot the difference the new tyres made. Had first rears at 13K miles, went from stock Pirellis to the Latitude Sports, second set of rears at 31K. First fronts replaced around 20K from memory, after beginning to tramline and going downhill very rapidly in around 2K miles..

Mines just coming up for it's major 40K service. The OPC has quoted discounted prices (10% off and inc vat) of £480 for the service, £465 for new front pads, and £899 for new pads AND discs (not that the discs need doing yet).
A local Porsche indy (using OEM parts) has said £312 for the service, and £192 for the pads.
So that's a difference for the service and pads of £441 smackers. Do you think, come part exchange time, the fact that a non OPC stamp has contaminated the service book would have any real effect on what they're going to offer?
