996 GT3..... Why does this car not find a home for long...?

Never had a problem with my air condition. During my last trip +27 degrees on the ground and had to turn my air conditioning down a little (make it warmer) as it was getting a tad chily.
A GT3 is an amazing car. If you are lucky enough to get to use it as intended everything comes into place.
For this car seats are easily changed, I would of thought a retro fit of air con would also not be too much of an issue either. Just have to adjust price accordingly. If it is a good car worth the money in my opinion.
I've read elsewhere that retro fitting a/c is a pig, and expensive. But happy to be corrected. A GT3 is an amazing car. If you are lucky enough to get to use it as intended everything comes into place.

My old car yes.
AC was an issue to some buyers, never bothered me in the slightest TBH, and Polar Silver is nicer than Artic. It had 9 owners also, again not an issue to me if the car is right.
In fact the Turbo i have now has just lost its AC gas again, needs a new suction line which is an engine out job thus i'll wait until its next major service.
I think the GT3 looked a lot nicer with the decals down the side to be honest, far more aggressive.
That car had everything done to it and went very well for a GT3. That said i wouldn't pay 40-42k for it but good luck to the seller

My A/C switches off at WOT. I get about 5 seconds of A/C maybe 3 times in a hot lap of the 'ring & not at all at Spa
Coolit Automotive used to quote £5K for a retrofit but they seem to have disappeared from the interwebs now...
Most likely went bust retro fitting aircon to 996 GT3's Nick Coolit Automotive used to quote £5K for a retrofit but they seem to have disappeared from the interwebs now...
I have to say I am pretty much the same. I only really put it on now in cars because they say if you do not use it you may encounter problems with it at a later date.
Now I tend to use it to clear the windscreen of condensation but I on older cars I just to whack the heating up on full blast and direct it to the windscreen which worked.
The only real exception is probably driving in southern Europe. When I first got her we drove to the south of France and the a/c was not working. We alternated between the noise of the windows open at speed and the windows closed and the fan on maximum.

Mikem7709, unfortunately you are so right. A few years ago I looked for ages for an e46 M3 without satnav and any real extras in a decent colour (Phoenix Yellow/ Laguna Seca Blue amongst others) and gave up in the end and bought a CSL. I buy for the engines and performance and to be honest manual window winders would not bother me.
As long as the lack of 'extras' is reflected in price I do not think it matter. What would that 996 GT3 (44,000 miles) go for if it had a/c and possibly the recaro seats -?? Surely £42-3 thousand is still too much but time will tell.

I do like that and should have bought it off Crimp.
Is it really worth 43k private with no warranty etc? Theres bound to be at least some money needed spending on it? Surely its not perfect?
Well i sold it for £36k which IMO was what the car was worth & paid £32k for it, the dealer couldn't shift the car. Car is probably worth £29k trade. Is it really worth 43k private with no warranty etc? Theres bound to be at least some money needed spending on it? Surely its not perfect?
All the big stuff is spot on mate
Brakes/Diff/Rads/clutch
Comfort/No AC and Silver are the the downsides to some people (not me) i bought the car based on what had been done and how it drove/history and as you know i've had a few. The only reason i sold was to release some cash.
There isn't a used Porsche of this age that is absolutely perfect, all have had paint as has the car in question.

When I was looking I wouldn't even consider a car without A/C and I expect plenty of others will be the same.
This is definitely the case Mike!Unless it is 100% track use you need aircon. Most GT3s are now summer toys whether road or track use and ice cold aircon is a godsend in the hot sun. And that's coming from someone who has rarely had aircon. I've always said "just wind the window down", but after some sticky journeys I'm converted.
The only real options my car has is Aircon and colour coded centre console which luckily for me are exactly what I would have specced new. Very lucky to have my particular car.
Hey Henry you can't be coming on saying silver Mk2 comforts are hard to shift. You're totally wrong, as I was told by a couple of experts who always chip in together, zero corrosion and err indoors or something. Colour and CS spec are NO more desirable, you got that?! No more desirable!
