911nutter, I can understand your sentiments but for me, the current Gumball is very much a victim of it's own success.

Wonderful concept, shame about (quite a few) of the entrants.

The overwhelming majority of PHers are simply sublime beings: people who you might have the odd run in with in virtuality, transpiring invariably to be hugely personable, affable, optimax-quoffing enthusiasts with healthy doses of reciprocative appreciation on tap, making everyone feel part of 'the scene,' as it were.

It strikes me that in the world of Gumball, the celeb ego factor of both 'genuine' known faces and the desperate privateer wannabes is incompatible with this relaxed approach and results in an insufferable clique of over preened attention seekers of little wit or charm but monumental self-absorption.

Wearing a wig and comedy breats in 'the spirit of Burt Reynolds' and being all laddish all looks a bit too like an FHM special feature - a vapid concept steeped in naff innuendo when everyone knows the real action is on the top shelf.

In stark contrast, I'm quite sure our own Eurohooners will 'do it' with consumate aplomb.

Come on guys, no pulling each others pigtails. Henry made quite a sensationalist comment, but the chances of driving with *some* residual alcohol in the blood from the night before is actually quite high. An interesting point when you think about it.

Ah, Captain Pantalons Bizzare, ca va?

How are we looking for the 28th? Will you be 'with partner rouge' perchance?

Your audience awaits.

let us then extrapolate this to the thicker end of the wedge... i propose a ban on all brits driving down to le mans in their fancy cars, on account of the fact that a large majority will be driving dangerously recklessly and probably under the influence of booooze.
[quote]

The main difference is that they actually won`t be pissed (you start drinking once you`ve stocked up with cheap gear chez soopermarche), and the drive from blighty to Le Mans is easily do-able in one stop with a quick coffee and a wee-wee break.

These guys are driving down through France, through Spain, into Portugal, up the far side of Portugal, accross the top of Spain, along the South Coast of France, and then hitting Le Mans. Oh and they`ve only got 3 days !

The Baron's trousers are nothing to be ashamed of. Even if the luftwaffe red has become a bit rubystone in the wash. Anyway, I am indeed planning on the 28th. May not drive even if the baron is ready (err, as if ) as it's a bit pricey. Just booked Rockingham for over a hundred quid less in September.

But Manfred, surely you can't stretch the Fokker's legs on the Rockingham inner circuit to the same extent as at Silverstone?

Anyway, what's £100 to a man who (a) designed the Krug holder for Mulliner's R and (b) would seem to make virtually weekly trips to his Uncle Schleife's kart track?

Ludicrous thrift and if I may venture, unnacceptable.

A little bit like Mr. P 'Howard Hughes' Clubsport, it's time you got your wad out and demonstrated to a lard fetishist comme moi, the true joys of RS minimalsm on a nice, sweeping, smooth track.

Cheers Paul.

As ever, Walker's new flavour department keeps me manacled to the counter so the Grand Prix Lexus-friendly track is one of my few opportunities which is why the Knights of The Round Table are so keen to have you along...

As a complete side order, the boy Thomassino is testing out a 996C2 this morning and something tells me that'll mean a twin porked Thomas Towers by plays end today.

Seem to recall you had one of these, chief?

(On the other hand, I suggested he might care for a spot of low mileage S500Lism c/o Willy L who had a fabulous value example for sale, very much in keeping with Daventry Joe's hitherto Merctastic slush-based commute.)

And I said "I've already got a slushtastic Mercedes. Why on earth would I want an S Class?"

In all seriousness, I drove a C2 Tip and C4 manual. The Tip wasn't very nice at all, too uninvolving and blunted an otherwise fine instrument. Like others have experienced I also found the front going a bit light over 100mph.

The C4 however....wow. What a machine. It pulled like a bastard even with three up, and never felt anything less than utterly planted. It also has PSM as standard, of course.

So, few things in the heady Thomas world of personal finance to sort and it will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.

I'm smitten.
