Ceramics dont give of dust or a fraction of the amount, so wheels stay much cleaner. I've got ceramics and would spec them everytime. smile
With ceramics, do you get any of the pitting and corrosion that you get with normal steel brake dust?

Not so far on mine, done 22k miles.
I specced ceramics for the better daily ride. The more or less un moving brake pedal on a hard drive is also worth the money.

Nice. I'm having mine fully xpel filmed at Paintshield. Should be around the 15th when the car arrives, waiting for a definite date tomorrow or Friday from the OPC.

Any further thoughts on the film please?

Obviously time will tell with how durable it is, but going from what other people have said on this and other forums then it should be good. The quality of the install is what impressed me most. It's always going to be a nervous moment when you're having something done to your brand new car, but I really couldn't fault it. And I do, unfortunately, have a real OCD thing and notice every mark on a car.

I also have a Mercedes E350 which is only just a year old now. That has loads of stone chips and it's only done 6000 miles now. If I could go back in time and get that protected I would!

Cheers, Jon

Gorgeous car. Love the colour combination. Enjoy it in good health. I bet you're looking forward to next summer already.

Never mind summer, enjoy those crisp autumn/winter early morning or late night runs with the heaters on max (did you spec heated seats?) and your scarf and beenie on - can't beat it! I love driving at night with the roof down - and that's in an old 986!

I think white is one of the best colours for the 981 - red interior is not my personal flava but I have seen so many white 981s specced with red as the contrast colour that it's difficult to picture what other roof/interior colours would work with white exterior!

Enjoy the new motor sir - forgive me if I am officially "well jel" hehewavey

"And I do, unfortunately, have a real OCD thing and notice every mark on a car." Me too, drives you mad eh.

I also have an e92 m3 which I wish I had had done. Has stone chips and whilst from 5 feet it still looks like new, I know they're there and it does my noggin in. If the Porsche fitting goes well I think I'll be taking the m3 to KDS and then Paintshield in the spring when I get paid.

I'm having the porsche detailed at Paintshield before they fit the film. Not sure who by yet, they recommended a couple.

Are you getting the whole car protected or just the front? I had my car swissvax'd at the dealership before the film was fitted.

KDS look good I've just had a look at their site. I'll probably leave the Merc another year or so and then get it done.

I was planning bumper, bonnet, wings and side skirts but its a grand extra for the whole car so I think I'll just have the lot done.

doesn't the film yellow over time? especially noticeable on a white car ...

Hopefully not with the Xpel film. They give it a 4 year warranty against peeling, yellowing, failure, etc. Apparently in the US installers warranty it for 10 years.

Fingers crossed!

Even if it does, which I'm not expecting, I would rather have it refilmed every 4 years than re sprayed. Especially on white, matching panels on a white car would be nigh on impossible once its 2+ years old so its a full spray job.

No bloody swirls or stone chips to annoy me is going to be worth every penny.

Can I just say that looks friggin awesome! Love it.

Good colour combos also, nice to break up the sea of boring black interiors.
