You can always lend it to Classic Car Club London. I've been a member for years and a lot of people lend their car in for membership. You'll get to drive a lot of cool stuff and they'll look after the rest.

PM if you'd like more details.

A couple of weeks ago, a neighbour was telling me he'd been chatting to a guy in Reading who runs one of these businesses - apparently, he started out just by hiring his own 911 out (change of career from being a London City boy when a heart attack hit him) and the business built up from there. Don't think it was this place, because his stock apparently included an older 911 (1970s era I think) - and that was the one which was fairly solidly booked.

I was told his annual insurance was £14,000 a year.
Yes, that sounds like me.

Hi cmoose,

The business is growing steadily, although no one is getting rich just yet. To give you a feel for the level of custom...we have over 2,000 unique visitors to the website each month and the 996 C4S did 120 days on hire in 2013.

I do appreciate your comments regarding the insurance excess and the mileage allowances.

However, the excess does have to be set at this level, in order to be a deterrent to undesirables. I only want respectful/responsible/enthusiasts to have access to both mine and my partner's cars (I turn away more business than I take). In most instances, the excess can be reduced to £750 for a very reasonable additional cost.

And if the liability were to sit with a 3rd party, I would of course fully refund the excess.

With regards to mileage, I regularly offer customers the option of an unlimited mileage upgrade (subject to fair usage), again for a very reasonable additional cost.

Kind regards
Chris

Does it mean that expenses such as servicing/tyres are deductible?
Yes, I see no reason why not.

I have a completely open mind and will take on board all and any feedback/criticism of our pricing and mileage allowances. I would be a fool not to.

Feel free to call me any time and let me know what rate/allowance/excess works for you. If it stacks up commercially, I will happily do it for you.

Does anyone know if it's possible/legal for a private individual to rent out their car, in my case, a 993 C2 manual coupe, fully serviced and currently sitting in storage. I'd rather rent it than have to sell it.

Many thanks. Kim
