Polish for black porsche

I have used plenty of polishes and waxes in my time…and for polish, I keep coming back to SRP. I know it's not perfect…but I have used it for ~25 years so I know how it works in most circumstances.
For wax, AG HD wax is good…but I, personally prefer:
R222 (formerly P21s)
No durability but, surely, the easiest wax ever to use and very, very shiny.
Collinite 476s
Hard work to use but very, very durable. It has lasted over 12 months in the past as well.
I have, in the past, layered R222 over 476s which gave epic shine and great durability. Having a wax base for further applications of R222 was quite handy, as well.
That said, neither of these are available in Halfords so, on this basis, I would probably err to the SRP / EGP recommendations made by others.

I have a 997.1 GT3 mostly covered in paint protection film. I have been using Turtlewax ICE which is a synthetic resin polish. Its clear, leaves no residue and can be used on all surfaces including plastic trim etc - so its very easy to put on, seems to give a pretty good shine but I dont really know how durable it is as my usage is sporadic. I noticed that its not sold in halfords anymore but is available from other places - seems to be around £9 for a half litre bottle. I bought mine about 5 years ago and its still going strong!

I use Zymol concours as it happens on my R, but tried HD wax and it's great. it's all in the prep and if you need black hole(I also have that) then you have not prepped your car to a good standard, I use black hole on our black mini but then wax over the top
P21s is put on wash off, and while nice results 2 washes and it's gone, but then easy to put back on.
HD wax lasts months as does Zymol, on my white cars I use a sealant (werkstat) and not a wax finish, wax look st on white imo.
PREP IS KEY. I have used HD wax, Swisswax, Zymol etc etc all the same look imo it's just a case that some last longer than others, but use a nice car wash

If you don't have a machine polisher, products with fillers are a perfectly reasonable way of temporarily masking defects - and even if you do, you don't want to be constantly removing paint, better to polish only infrequently with anything with any cut and use something like SRP or BH between times. I guess it depends how much of a garage queen you have, though.
I never said my setup of BlackHole was the best - just answered the question as to what I use.
My 996 paint isn't the best, so the Black hole helps in restoring my paint.
Nothing more, nothing less.
But as you can see, it looks absolutely ste.

Agreed re Autoglym wash. It seems to both strip off all wax instantly and leave dirt completely untouched!people using fillers, people using polish as a sealant ffs.

I agree entirely!I wouldn't suggest P21s or R222 if it weren't so easy to use! It did help the (dire) durability that the 911 lives inside. Collinite's (observed) durability was on a car that lives outside, hence I was quite impressed!
Preparation is essential…but this opens up a murky world of snow foam, 2 bucket method, etc to ensure the car doesn’t need to much polishing in the first place!
A little further o/t...but I'm a big fan of the snow foam.
When I lived in Jersey, the car would often get dusty or sandy; snow foam and a leaf-blower dry (don't we all use a back-pack leafblower to dry cars...) was very good for a quick clean without touching the car.
In the winter, the cars got muddy. My 328 was a commuter-snotter (it was a bit too good for it, being a 41,500 mile E36...a whole 2 years ago) and I washed it 3 times in my ownership (2 of those were at purchase and sale). Snow foam was very, very good at loosening the built up crud that was all over the car.
I'm now based in London. I'm trying to find a way to snowfoam, despite a lack of driveway, outdoor tap, etc...
Another wax / seal I'm going to try is GTechniq's C2. Both the BMW and Porsche have had C1 and Exo applied and I'm interested to see if C2 is as good a "lazy-seal," as they claim it is as I'm very impressed with the rest of their stuff. The BMW was done with their serious stuff 15 months ago and is still beading beautifully.

A few pics of black Porsches we have finished recently. First 3 images finished with a wax, last one finished in our UNCv2 nano coating.
Look wise there is not much difference, some claim wax gives a more shiny, gleaming finish, but the real difference is in how long the finish stays like this...
Wax will be gone in 3 months at the very best case scenario, a proper coating is good for many years with proper maintenance.

I've got some swirls in places on my 997 and have been recommended black hole by one of the guys that does work for 991V.
I use meguires to clean the car. After that I plan to apply black hole. Then? Do I need some sort of sealant? If so, any recommendations?
Will microfiber cloth be okay to apply the blackhole stuff? Also okay for the top coat sealant/wax?
