Decided on buying a new front wheel and getting the scored one refurbished that way the car isn't with the OPC for week or two and I'll have a spare for when it happens again (but only if it's as bad as this ) Yes I know......
Did you manage to get a refurb? Got my car out of winter wrap this morning and, after the valet, discovered I have scrapes on both front wheels. Very tedious. Twinfan said:
I suspect not. There's very little clearance between the caliper and wheel with PCCBs.
What about just sticking one of the balancing weights a little bit inboard of the wheel so it's in line with the brake disc? if there's a stone, it'll hit the wheel weight and ping out? Relic said:
Happened on my GT3 with PCCB's two years ago. I have stones on the drive and one got stuck between the caliper and the wheel, it scored the wheel all the way around the inner wheel.
Fortunately I had the wheel insurance so that covered it. OPC (Swindon) told me I was very lucky it was not the disc that got damaged.
Not too expensive to have PCCB repaired check SICOM they do an excellent job and are recognised in Racing fraternity refurb for Ferrari Racing i can recommend Fortunately I had the wheel insurance so that covered it. OPC (Swindon) told me I was very lucky it was not the disc that got damaged.
