I had a 993 C4S first, then that went for me to emigrate (which fell through 4 days before my flight), then when i came back to Porsche i had a 993 C2 (the blue one) which i sold a month after i bought the 993tt (gave me time to swap over the strut brace, stereo, private plate, etc.) you see?
Done 9k miles in the last 6 months in the 993tt - and it's *unbelievable* every day. I now look like this permanently

Very intersting - thanks for your comments.
Its very obvious the 911 is a great drivers car and if the TVR goes, I think it'll be the next weapon of choice - can you get a 3.2 to sound better too?
And how bland are those interiors?? Never mind, I think I could live with that....
Cheers

911 interiors aren't bland, but they can be very very black!!! The characterful interior is quite a selling point in my book; buttons all over the shop, silly beetle pedals and a big eff off rev counter at 12 o clock. Wunderbar. Better than one of Wheeler's Blue Peter experiments designed by his dog on aceeed.

A nice 3.2 is a great car to drive and you shouldnt lose much on it if you look after it.....a 3.6 will hold its money too but cost you more to run than a 3.2......I love both, buth just make sure you dont buy a ropey 3.6 as it could cost ££££££ss to put right.

Another thumbs up for the 3.2

Chuffed to bits with mine and with a sports exhaust it sounds great!

I also think the 3.2 looks better than the 964

Definitely swap the exhaust if you think a 911 lacks 'character' compared to a RV8 TVR.

I went a bit too far first time round and the Fabspeed pipes on my 993 made my Griff 500 sound rather limp. Fabulously OTT and preposterously aggressive racing sound. If you've ever heard a racing 911 flat 6 then you can't disagree that they're a characterful motor!!!

The straight-through non-silenced Supercup pipes are too much for virtually anyone though, so something in between will give you back some of that aural fun that the V8 TVRs have in spades.

An aggressively set up (suspension / tyres) air-cooled 911 with a loud exhaust has IMO all the character of most TVRs. Don't worry about it if your first 911 drive is a Swiss-spec-silenced smoothy, they're not all like that

I did have the black interior on the Targa which I really didn't mind - very classic sports car. One nice owner had my Coupe re-trimmed in '97 by Southbound so it's all grey leather/leatherette and very nice too although Marble Grey seats do seem to have a tendancy to look dirty.

Th exhaust was gone when I bought the Coupe and Northways fitted a SS single pipe Dansk System which sounds at least as nice as a standard 3.6 and I think a little throatier and louder.

Loads of people on the PCGB web site have bought Steve Wong chips for their 3.2s and you can get him to engineer it towards the type of exhaust/air filter/fuel grade etc you use to give a vastly improved mid-range and bottom end.

Also, if you want to buy privately - which will save you money - use Adrian Crawford's buying guide at www.performance2and4.co.uk/.
