Anybody else got a hankering for a CTR at the moment?
Discussion
Daz, To be honest - no.
The Ruf CTR is an amazing car and a legend from my teenage years (I knew about Ruf years before most people were aware of them and have owned the Stefan Roser 'ring video for well over a decade). In terms of sheer speed it is still a match for almost anything made today.
BUT - I have never liked classic cars and am a huge fan of technology and modernity, so to me a really fast modern car will always be more appealing, hence why I built my car to be what it is. Technology has moved on from the CTR in the near 20 years since it was produced and it's no surprise therefore that the CTR is now behind the game when it comes to chassis, brakes and interior.
Thanks to the extreme generosity and trust of Mike and Adam who have let me drive their beautiful CTR on several occasions, including a 2hour stint on the road, I can say it was a real pleasure and a genuine joy to drive the legend that is the CTR, but for me it's not something I would choose to own (at least not until it could form part of a 10-20 car collection). Also the seats are too damn small!
Similarly the CTR2 has never really captured my imagination in the same way, despite being a great car.
The RT12 on the other hand is a different matter and I really, badly, want a black one.

Fully understandable. Although I thought the red with the carbon bits on the press release car looked stunning.
Know what you mean about seats being to small in the CTR. Welcome to my world.

Well, I would really like a BTR conversion on a narrow-bodied 993, but somehow retaining the electric spoiler (and the stock 993 appearance) - so it would look very subtle, but go like ...
I think it needs the spoiler for the intercooler, I know someone with a btr
Yep, aware of that, hence the "somehow". But. it would be nice to retain the narrow-body spoiler-free look.
Dan, i remember reading somewhere about a couple of cars (think they were 993tt's) which had the stock n/a spoiler grafted on - obviously this meant relocating the intercooler (in fact i think they split the system so each turbo has it's own intercooler), much like the 996tt or RUF CTR2, in the rear wings.
I'd love something like that. The look of my C4S with the go of my tt.

Hi buddy,
not very often at all, I think demand for them is very high and the only ones that "sit" are ones that have been smashed and rebuilt.

Adam I dont want to know about CTR's, I wanted to know if any were for sale! Or rather, I dont want to know for fear of going out and buying one! I know plenty about CTRs per se, hence why Ive got a hankering to buy one atm and that would be a bad bad bad thing. At least for my engagement it would anyway!

Guy, is the Japanese car on any websites that you could provide a link to?
What are the prices for the narrow bodied cars that are about?
Cheers
No it's not unfortunately.
The green car was 100,000 euros (+tax?). The white one was more from memory.
?
RUF had a CTR advertised on their site last yr. I seem to recall it was red. Unless it was the yr before, been a while since I looked on their website.

I have spent quite a bit of time in this car during its shakedown testing and the interior works much better in person.

Red one was sold to a very nice gentleman from Canada, and is being shipped to him in the new year.
I dont know of anymore that are for sale. At the moment they seem to be snapped up really quickly
