M030 ARBs are avialable from any OPC. No problem. I have just got a few sets for guys on the 968UK forum. There was a rumoured shortage of fronts at one time but I just phoned Germany and got a set in 3 days and cheaper too.

I bought my M030 suspension recently from Germany, again no problems.

The spindles are he difficult(expensive bits) and the ET65 Cup ones.

Suprised no one has mentioned the LSD. Weren't most factory M030 cars fitted with this as standard? Many retrofitted M030 may not have the LSD... Vital imho if the car is going to be a track toy.

Why's the LSD vital? Most factory equipped LSD units will have worn by now as they were torsen units on 968's rather than the ZF's on 911's.

The drift boys all use them as the low end torque is superb. Need to get a rolling road o/p

Rolling road o/p???
Does this mean it's not just a plug n play type chip?
cheers,

How much would it cost to uprate a "normal" CS to MO30 spec, inc the LSD? Parts only.

Suspension is about £2k
Brake calipers £560 each - you'd need disks & pads too
LSD £1.2k
M030 spindles/hubs £1-2k EACH!
M030 ARB's £350
17" cup 1 or cup 2 wheels are about £500 for a used set

It's quite a wedge overall, however the same can be acheived a bit more cheaply using caliper adapters rather than the correct spindles, and a quaife rather than Torsen diff. Front suspension legs are difficult to come by in the UK but can be sourced from European OPC's.

Friend in the trade has just offered me a RHD Riviera Blue 968CS with full Mo30 options and cage, 68k miles, for just 12k... it has had track use and needs new tyres plus a small PAS pump leak attending to, hence the low price. But apparently it's pretty clean. Email me through my profile if interested and I'll pass details on - Riviera is probably the nicest colour for them, too.

Sounds like my old car. Is it a "Caged" half cage and does it have adjustable strut top mounts and billet A Arms?? If so then I'm sure it's my old CS, great motor but did see an awful lot of action on the track in the last 15 months. I have a feeling the A arm ball joints needed replacing. Last owner would have traded it in on a GT3 RS, think it was sold to GMUND or Weltmeister.

Yes, sounds like yours. My contact is Andy Fearns; Weltimeister being the connection. Lovely car with all the right bits, but used as intended as you say. Very cheap for 68k miles if a couple of k put back to make perfect, tho'.

I went to look at this car & drove it too .... Andy & RSJ bought it ( to sell on?) from under my nose whilst I was trying to contact the owner I was not best pleased

Its a quick car ( the quickest of all the 968's I drove whilst looking for one) but it did need work incl headgasket & the problems above.

In the end I decided not to go down the 968 route ( lacked the soul of my 911) & save up for a 964 RS for track stuff.

Andy/RSJ bought it to use, from memory. Otherwise it would have been up for sale a while ago. It is only now being offered to the trade.

I quite agree re 964RS. I prefer them to CSs myself, by quite a margin, but this one has all the right bits that give it more soul than most. Just needs a flat six in it now

And a 9M charger! 350bhp! Just speak to Colin.

Maritime Blue is the best colour and it whips a RS on the Shopping trips!

It would whip it on the track too with the supercharger!

LOL, but then the arms race occurs... with Motec +whatever for the RS and a nice 360bhp

The CS in question is Riviera Blue, not Maritime Blue, BTW - even rarer and even more lairy (it's the lighter blue as found on 993RSs etc.)

The answer is to buy a 44 turbo and stick 968 M030 on it = cheaper, lighter, faster car

When & why did Porsche change the colour? I thought there were only five CS colours (black, white, red, yellow, blue) but it seems the 'blue' changed from Maritime (like my '93MY car) to Riviera at some point. Or was Riviera a special order colour?

BTW I have to say the in the sunshine the Riviera/Maritime Blue cars look the fastest!

Not sure if it was a special or just a Maritime replacement. I have only seen it on late (1994) CSs, which suggests that it was a factory change mid-way through production.

The colours did indeed change midway through production, at the same time as they went from Cup1 to Cup2 wheels.
Both changes showed an error in judgement IMHO.

My view exactly. The Cup 2s are a bit lighter but you can just buy up the SM Mags Cup 1s from the 964 RS owners and stick them on.

This should push up the demand and prices I hope!
