anniversary 911 or C4S
Discussion
I have just sold my 40th Anniversary 911 after 8 months and 22,000 miles of ownership.
Its an awesome tool, but in the end I must be honest and say that it lacked "fizz" for me.
Fast, entertaining, well-built, loads of toys etc etc - but just didnt "do-it" for me.
The handling, especially, I found to be a bit twitchy, VERY hard and VERY bouncy for everyday use on real-world roads - wouldnt buy another one and have gone back to an ///M - which I guess I should have bought to start with.
Just my opinion!!!

WOW!! .. I suppose it takes all types , but having driven one quite a lot , I wouldn't have found it either hard or twitchy..

I know what you mean. It certainly doesn't feel as fast as it is - but isn't that the same as all the 911s? (except GT2/3/RS etc)
An SMG2 M3 is more of an event to drive for everyday use but I still think the rear engined C2 is more challenging/rewarding at the limit.
I'm really lost by this one, a BMW M3 is more of an event & faster than a 996 special edition!!!! WOW!
I mean I know the M3 is a good car, but I really, really can't see that one at all, in any shape or form, from any angle (with the exception of someone who is a drift freak)! All these years of being a car nut & it makes me wonder what it is all about if you really believe that!
I'm off to lie down in a darkened room!

an M3 (and I didnt say I was getting an M3) has more Character than a brace of 911's IMHO - ok the build quality isnt as good and the servicing costs are higher BUT speed for speed there isnt much in it and how it gets there is mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!
as for the straight 6 engine - there is nothing like it on the planet - the noise - the thrill - the fizz - the excitement!!!!
but as I said the 911 was a fantastic car - just a little too "clinical" for my liking!!!
My last two M's, where I did over 150,000 miles in them, were by far the best two cars I have EVER owned - so I am going back to that place where I had so much fun.

strange comments indeed, the main reason am struggling with the idea of an M is it is less of an event to drive than a 911
and I would go for the 4S over the anniversary mainly for the looks which are better x10 on the 4S v std looking C2 (albeit one with painted Carreras whcih I also don't like). An X51 4S would be the perfect compromise for me

The Anniversary car wasn't standard look C2 tho' - the front was Turbo/C4S... it makes the car look entirely different in the flesh (agree on the chrome Carreras tho' - very bling). I personally would (and have) gone for a standard C2 over a C4S, which IMO is rather 'lardy' by comparison - add in the 'powerkit', and there is no comparison - all IMHO obviously
