Sidicks,I did consider the 4S but in the end decided that there was a limit on the amont of money I wanted to spend without sacrificing certain options !
jjrl, didnt consider as thought as a daily driver PASM was probably a better option without negating the ability for track.
DiscoColin,TPMS thought hard about as have a similar warning on the current M3 although I regularly check my tyres and a blowout is a blowout, warning signal or not.

Fortunately the TPM in the Porsche is a different league to that in the M3 - rather than just get a random light on the dashboard when there may be a problem with one of the tyres (you aren't told which one!), the Porsche system shows the actual tyres pressures for each wheel, which is much more comforting! I tend to view the tyre pressures before setting off.....

Lovely car but make sure you will not get kicked in the gonads when you come to sell it. Dealers are always looking for an excuse to reduce the value of a car and colour is no 1 reason.

I realise that - but you cant win - order in silver and the dealer will have too many - order differently and " sorry sir , thats not to everyones taste. "
Its a new car and I'm going to lose money on it - I accept that - I'm not buying it as an investment -I'm buying it to have fun and you're a long time dead.

The TPMS system gives you the actual pressures on each corner, and is reputed to be quite accurate. Consequently it isn't just a matter of blowout warning - it saves you from having to mess around with the tyre gauge on a regular basis and you will be aware if you have a slow leak (such as a nail, glass, etc...) before you walk out the next day to drive somewhere to find a corner pancaked.

In the event of a blowout at speed (such as on track or a twisty stretch of B road), even a tiny amount of advanced warning could help you to prevent stacking it too. Even to whack a rim into the curb and need a new one will be within a typical excess and more than the TPMS sets you back.

Well that was my thinking on the matter anyway, but mostly because of the labour saving on the pressure gauge malarky...

I have seen a 3 997's in Cobalt over the last few days.

All the Turbo demo cars appear to be in Cobalt and Swindon have a 4S in the showroom for sale and it looks great.

To muswellhillmafia -a) I dont drivel and b) I doubt I will make more than a couple of calls a month !and c) absolutely agree about the driving sensation.
To X15 - I just wanted a lighter blue to midnight or lapis - i did deliberate long and hard about Cobalt -seeing one at the OPC decided it for me- I totally take your point on the wheels though.

I have a tel module in my 996tt - I dont use a mobile (cost of calls for a 12 mth period under £2) but i do use the car phone (hands free) and really enjoy the benefit of not worring about recharging or carrying it around and the ease of use whilst driving.

Don't worry about the residuals on the 997 - if you're prepared to ring a few Porsche buyers, you can do OK (they are the guys in the Sunday Times), I deal with Matthew Oak. He paid me £66k for my 55 plate Carrera S. It was in boring silver and had some nice options and 3500 miles. I paid £74,000 for it when new nearly a year ago.

I wasn't happy to do £8,000 in a year but it's better than the £43,000 I did on a Gallardo......
