Had to shop around loads when I got my 997. Under 30, central London postcode, car on the street, zero no claims, etc etc and Cheam got me the best deal through CHUBB. Specialist policy with tons of benefits for high end car drivers:
- Insurance covers actual value of car (I write it off in 6 months, I get full money back and not just market value) so no need for gap insurance
- Car is fully comp for anyone to drive
- I'm fully comp to drive any other car (incl. rental and courtesy cars)
- Guaranteed equivalent courtesy car in case of repairs (had my car resprayed after a small incident and got an AMV8 for two weeks..!!)
- Free legal protection (you need to sue for loss of earnings, etc all your legal bills are already paid)
- All repairs through OPC
I'll admit it wasn't cheap for me but that was due my circumstances - give them a call and see what quote you get.
One major word of caution that you should be very careful with. Admiral, Sainsbury's etc ended up giving me cheaper quotes than I currently have but decided against them due to the last item on my list. In case you have an accident in your Porsche, most 'normal' insurance companies don't have to approve repairs through OPC and have the right to have your car repaired at their own recommended garages. That means your pride and joy may end up being repaired at some cheap independent without you having any control. Makes a huge difference to resale values (esp. for new cars) and OPC can question your warranty for any further claims. Be careful and make sure what ever policy you go for specifically allows you to have any repairs done at OPC or at a garage of your choice (not the insurance company's)... Read the small print and don't just go for the smallest number..!!!

Mine is a funny situation. Had three M3s before but all as named driver under foreign insurance policies.. Means that I get no credit for them in the UK. Absolutely ridiculous in my opinion but not much I can do.
As you can imagine an under 30 yr old with no UK insurance history trying to insure a £70k car parked on the street in central London is not very easy.... Tried Porsche Insurance and they came in at £6k..!! Most others wouldn't even give a quote.
Cheam pulled every string possible and got me the CHUBB insurance for £2,230 which is hefty I know but considering the policy I thought it worth it. Cheapest alternative was Admiral at £1,950. Rather pay the extra £300 and get real peace of mind.

£2230 is a lot but look what you are insuring, my nephew 19 yr old (not a boy racer) is £1200 for the basic of basic cars, no wonder there are so many uninsured driver about at these prices.
Very true. I got a nice financing deal for my car and paying the insurance monthly means that owning a £70k sports car is actually surprisingly affordable.
Totally off topic I know but talking about financing, the deals from OPCs are generally very poor but a lot of people take them as they can be structured with low monthly payments that actually look very attractive. I'm a banker by trade so know a thing or two about crunching numbers and whilst you may think OPCs give you a great deal... forget it. Do the maths and you'll see what you actually end up paying for the car is huge....!! Independent car financing is the way to go and you'll get a much better deal.

You get an even better deal if you dont buy from OPC in the first place.
