Will you be at the ring on the weekend by anychance?
Adam,

I was planning to be there.
Then a friend called. His F1 GTR has just been refurbed and fettled by the factory and he invited me to join them for the test session this weekend.
It would have been rude to decline.

Might you be at the 'ring another time this year?

Decisions decisions eh?

Hey, i was there later in the day. Got there around 3.30pm. Was really busy with the same bunch of Swedes. Took my first trip round the Ring and was great. I think I got in the way of a couple of faster cars but not too bad for the first time.

There was a (Swedish) metallic grey Ferrari, not sure of the model, looked new, a bit 550 like but seemed bigger. He seemed very agressive when he came up behind me as I approached a bend and got very impatient because I took the bend 'slowly'. A bit intimmidating really.

That was a 599GTB. That guy did seem to be impatient indeed. Not that he was *that* quick, mind you. A bit ill-behaved if you ask me.

Moved there in part to be close to the Ring (Shanghai was a *bit* too far away).

We're going again this Sunday, maybe see you there!

Der Ring is not open for TF except in the evenings for the whole month, except for this coming Sunday. If you're there for the w/e of the 16th then you'll be cycling or running the circuit! www.rad-am-ring.de/

Ok, thanks for that. Maybe a trip for early evening would fit the bill then. I'm only about 1hr 15mins away

Just checked the website, looks like October is a better bet for all day opening. Tuesday 3rd Oct is all day but it's also reunification day here in Germany, a public holiday. Should be a nice atmosphere on that day!

Plenty of people who do and don't (or probably think they do!) know what they are doing at the Ring. Some people ignore basic rules, such as only overtaking on the left, which could not only cause an accident, but cost some poor soul their life.

My advice is firstly, go buy a Playstation 2 with GT4 and get familier with the circuit, then watch as much footage as possible on 'tinternet or DVD's download some of the online training manuals (the BMW one is very good) then when you arrive, get as many passenger laps as possible before veturing out in your own car.
B
... Then ... BLOODY ENJOY it. Even as a spectator on TF days, seeing cars like Adams Yellowbird is enough to send you into a seizure!!!

Great post adamt - that's what it's all about isn't it. I'll be there in Oct straight from the factory in my shiney new GT3 - desperately trying to keep it right way up - and on the grey stuff!
