You would probably find something in Luss, but its a cute little place like Brigadoon or Balamory or so you might be overcharged. Theres a large Victorian Hotel at Tarbet which often has coaches parked outside and certainly puts you where you need to be the next morning. The Culag Hotel/Guesthouse is just south of Tarbet. I know people who have stayed there, it looks right over the loch, and I dont recall them complaining about it. If you go up to Lochgoilhead you are a little bit off your track but you could stay at the Shore House Inn which is good, nice bar and excellent food.

I think thats about your lot round there! Have fun.

No those are good roads...

However, the mother of all the scottish roads, as far as I am concerned, is what we in Dumfriesshire call "The Devil's Beeftub."

This road is the A701 starting at Moffat (turn for Edinburgh Tourist Route from the A74M).

Follow through Moffat, and up the hill towards Edinburgh.

This route combines climbing height and snaking bends, dips, hard braking for a narrow bridge followed by a hard 2nd gear right and then some excellent high speed bends towards the top over moorland.

Eventually taking you through a forrested section and into the hills around Pennicuik and Edinburgh, the only thing more fun is the run back again!

Trust me, it's worth a drive!

If you're coming to Dumfriesshire let me know for a hoon to Edinburgh and back!

HAve any of you who have obviously done this trip or similar before got any recommendations for a B+B around Loch Lomond? (Ncl to there is about as far as I want to have to drive on a Friday setting off after lunch)

Duck Bay next to Cameron House is OK. You can then eat there or Cameron House. £45 a night I think.

I dont know if this is too late a post for you but I'll say my bit anyway.

The Perth to Braemar road is stunning via the spiital of glensee. Lots of fast twisties and decent overtaking spots if you come accross any other car. Then I would head towards Ballater, take the road before the Hilton Hotel (pass it you've gone to far) towards Tomintoul. This takes you up over a winding mountain pass which is stunning. Take the left road over a stone bridge from there.

After that I would head to Loch Lomand and stay North side - lots of hotels with large off the road and quiet car parks. From there head to Sky! Some of the most beautiful roads on Earth and scenery - the castle from Highlander - Eilean Donnan. On sky head towards the ferry and get that back to the mainland. From there head to Loch Fyne via Glenfinnan.

The perth-braemar road is my fav and this pic were taken there....
