Do you drive a 996 ? I'm interested in getting one of those, but put off with the all the stories of catastrophic engine failures. OK, they say it only happens on 5% of cars, but that's a big gamble to take when a new engine is about 11 to 12K.

Is not having a warrantee on a 996 a good idea ?? Your thoughts please ....

Oh for god's sake.

Who are "they"...?

Utter b0llocks. There have been rare failures. Buy one. Buy the OPC warranty. End of story.

Close, buy one ...'uck the useless warranty, buy private and save 20% of the dealers price and put it towards your repairs.IMO very reliable cars if treated correctly..

Well, that's one point of view.

I prefer my risks to be managed rather than taken though.
