Im enjoying this thread..it sums up why i got rid of the Gt3 and bought a 'chipped ' tt..to have enough grunt to avoid racing every tom dick and harry in a souped up 'thing' who wants to have a go.The tt doesnt attract the same attention fortunately and if it does the other person soon realises its a fairly pointless exercise.

Edited by kayc on Wednesday 1st November 15:19

Glad i could be of service altho im sure Nervy would have done similar with much more applomb than I could muster.

Agreed KayC im thinking with residuals heading the way they are the 996 Turbos are looking tempting ill be heading the same route in about a year much as id love a GT3. How "souped up" is yours ?, i was hoping the x-50 pack would be enough ...

I have driven the 997tt yes.It felt virtually the same performance but the power delivery was smoother and slightly less frantic, much better engine note as well..The car also felt a lot more stable on bumpy roads however a little less exciting(i know thats hard coz the tt is very dull)I certainly wouldnt part with 50k for the small improvement.

Yup just a re-map,it takes a couple of hours and i paid £1400 for it,i think it was slightly cheaper than normal coz a few of my mates have had upgrades done by them as well.(Discount for bulk)

Dare I ask this question. Is yours quicker(straight line) than a standard 996 GT2?

I dont know really ,i have driven a Gt2 but not for long enough to get really comfortable with it...in the dry i would say the GT2 would have the edge.My mate who had the Gt2 thought the performance was similar but without going back to the usual gt3/gt2/tt debate he was surprised how quick he could drive the tt after a very short period of time...less rewarding but easier to drive quickly..equally if he gets rid of his cab he wants another gt2 not a tt...

I've been considering a DMS upgrade to 530, did yit make a significant difference to your car, and so an utter bargain?

Frankly im surprised you have time to dig up pictures of swiss tony etc, and cut and paste such witty replies on the internet - given that a large proportion of your day seems to be spent posting "My Mazda Mx-Gt6 Turbo-Greddy-big-potatoes, spanked a <insert random exotica here> yesterday, honest" threads on various forums.

but carry on, you are amusing us.

Its a fantastic upgrade, the tt as we all know has a fairly lazy delivery of power and really can be little dull..with the chip the power comes in hard earlier(2k rpm)and pulls really hard and fast to 6k in a simliar fashion to n/a car, induction noise is more noticeable across the rev range however around town the car feels very docile still. The car boosts to nearly 1 bar occassionally (0.6 bar standard). It has added enough performance to mean that the car needs to be treated with some respect otherwise it can now get a bit of a handful. My only question would be does the gt2 need the extra bhp as its lighter and slightly less useable already?.530bhp in a gt2 would be a blast however...asbestos pants required.

i post a friendly post to see if the fellow enthusiast out on a hoon is a PHer and i get my car compared to a light bulb, accused of going all over the internet bragging about kills, accused of something (i'm still not sure what) by mav's first post, oh and Kibosh, you should be on the telly with your razor sharp wit, it's interesting to note that the two biggest planks on here drive the older, shittier versions whilst desperately clinging to the coat tails of the other people on here who have made something of their lives

i think you will find i was very careful not to say that i pissed all over the GT3 or whatever for fear of looking like a braying idiot.

I think you need to relax, porsches are lovely, but not the be all and end all, and many modified cars WILL waste a standard porsche, get over it and stop being so threatened and defensive.

Anyway, mission accomplished chaps, i will not be returning to the porsche section, there are too many tools here with an ego.

Goodnight everyone else

Well that told us.

I for one feel very stupid.

R.

ps - I simply asked "why" you were posting what you did. My assertion that you might very well be a passing troll with some sort of modified car axe to grind was as thinly veiled as your initial "i wasted a PORRSSSHHA mate" post, the fact that your hackles shot up and you got all angsty on me did nothing to change my mind, and indeed precipitated this entire thread. It was however amusing, on an otherwise dull Wednesday afternoon - so thank you for that.
pps - does anyone seriously still say one car will "WASTE" another ?, i mean *really* ?. I must be getting old.

Hmm, unbiased opinion here whether you want it or not M@v, you did come across as a bit of a bell end on a wind up, although, to be fair, Greg rose to your bait.

I would try to remove your tongue from Nervey’s ring though, he might get upset if he tries to sit down and finds that there.

Fair enough rude, we are all entitled to our opinions, you included. Im not entirely sure how politely asking someone what the intention of their thread was, (i.e. doing this in a way that didnt involve explicity saying "are you just another troll" makes me a "bell end" though - there are lots "my car is faster than yours" threads on every car forum ive ever read, i just find them tedious. Hence my aim of clarification, to which Greg threw several of his toys over.

several people on PH have made me chuckle lately Vesuvius, and Nervy included. Specifically a very similar thread that Nervy frankly destroyed (albeit humourously) had me laughing - possibly you missed this one.
Maybe if you say something that makes me laugh as well ill be "sticking my tongue up your ring" too - credit where its due mate. Sorry if such things seem to offend.

This place is a drag. Tasteless (but sooooooo successful) chavs in turbocharged MX5's telling tales of heroism in order to be noticed and/or recognised. When they are questioned (BECAUSE THE DOTS IN THE STORY DON'T ADD UP!!) they get huffy and personally abusive.

Only on PH!

No offence taken what so ever, re-reading my post it would also appear that I missed off the smilies I should have added.

Nervy is a comic genius at times :inventedthelongonewordthinglikethisthateveryoneseemstousethesedays: and I think I did have a look at the post you are referring to, the one about GT2’s (only 40 odd in the last few weeks it seems hehe ) Tis indeed a think of wonder when he goes off on one that’s for sure.

I was more narked though by the automatic assumption that he was trolling, it certainly didn’t read that way to me in the first instance. Arh the happy mis-interpretation of the emotion behind the written word.

Owning the lowest of the low Porsches myself it must be a gay/hairdresser protective streak coming out in me…
