no matter what you say, if you think the playfull things said here are bad DO NOT POST IN THE BM forum.

they are mighty proud of their badge and have memories (not man boobs) like elephants and snipe you from the sidelines for months to come.

On a totally unrelated note, has anyone else noticed how surprisingly little midrange GT3s have?

SM
Really..ive never noticed that

you were driving along and some tosser was driving badly. OK, have a moan. but you claim not to be having a pop at 911 drivers in general. If so, what is the purpose of posting in the porsche forum? have you also posted this in general gassing or the audi forum to which you would reasonably be expected to contribute?

Yep, the post was also put in the Yorkshire forum.

As the driver of the car in question has a Porsche, it is perfectly forseeable that the driver or someone who knows him might frequent the Porsche forum on PH. Hence my post there. It's also forseeable that he might frequent the Yorkshire forum, hence my post there too. I wouldn't have posted it in the Audi forum as he wasn't driving an Audi - not very forseeable that he'd be in the Audi forum is it?

Wow, I can't believe the reactions this post has got here in the Porsche room. Based on my clear lack of contempt for Porsche as a brand (I used to own one, and it remains the best car I have ever had) I can only assume that there are other insecurities within this forum. Do you tend to get lots of people posting similar kinds of threads? Do you perceive that there is some kind of problem in the way people view Porsche drivers? Honestly, why is it that you've all got upset simply because I tried to highlight the vastly unnacceptable driving of someone - someone who, based on the car he drives, might be known to other Porsche owners or might even be a member of this forum himself?

My comments have been twisted to the point of 'slagging off' Porsche drivers (which would have included myself) or trying to incite competition that the Audi I was in was upset at being overtaken by a Porsche. We would have been equally upset had the driver been driving a Lotus Elise, a Subaru Impreza or anything else in the manner he was and would have made posts on those forums instead.

I personally don't subscribe to the idea that Porsche drivers have any particular reputation, a reputation that some others on PH do believe in. It does seem, however, that the reputation of the Porsche forum is a worthy one.

And I'm the one who needs to chill out?!

There have been a few of these types of post recently. Some people react to them quite strongly and have had a good deal of practice in doing so - hence you being flamed now

Personally, these posts don't bother me (I understand the need to vent on a forum if something happens that you want to share) and I can also understand why you posted on the Porsche forum.

I certainly wouldn't want to see my number plate posted up here alongside comments of driving like a tool. If i had been driving in that manner and saw a post to that effect, yet believed myself that I had been driving well, or perhaps "demonstrating my, and my motors' verve to the other road users" I would hope it would make me think.

If the Porsche driver in question HAD hit the landrover would it have then been accepted as a reasonable post?

However, all things taken into account, and as advocated by many of the sages on here, the best thing to do in situations like that is probably just to sigh, hope he doesn't have an accident, chill out and move on.

Although i do agree, you should've video it and then maybe video'd the nearly-an-accident as well

Would you have posted it on the Mondeo / Ford forum if it had been a Mondeo and not a Porsche?

actually i thought my post was pretty mild - matey here clearly feels umbrage at perceived bad driving and feels the need to vent. that's ok. he also states he'd have done the same on the lotus forum or the subaru or whatever. that's ok too, if a bit sad. my points are however that
1) this sort of post should have only one target, the driver of the culpable car
2) given the number of regular posters on this forum and compare it to the total number of porsche drivers and you will conclude he is unlikely to hit the target here
3) for the rest of us, it feels like he is trying to reinforce a stereotype (as per his last paragraph, beginning "so Mr Porsche driver...." ) which the majority of the enthusiasts on this forum might find offensive, and would reject. At the same time he is having a nice little masturbatory wish-fulfilment fantasy - "yeah, mate, I could of had him, anytime, yeah, my RS6 woulda creamed 'im, only ive got this sore thumb see..." )
4) life is way too short for this sort of activity, since each of us could probably post similar on several different forums each day
5) if he really feels strongly, dont report it here - we cant do anything - have the courage of his convictions and tell the police - he has the full numberplate after all. they wont convict but they will tell the driver off, which might ultimately do some good. Posting "mr porsche driver youre a tw@t" on here wont do any good
