selling boxster s in winter...or should i wait till spring?
Discussion
well in auto trader i seen the cars for sale..and been reading top marques for past 2 momths..and i think i could sell the car for about 29k or maybe 28k
but i was thinking who the hell is going to buy this car in the winter..with xmas approaching?
surely more people are likely to want this kind of car in the spring .in time for the summer..and just wanted to know if the porsche boxster market happens this way where more cars are getting bought and sold in spring as opposed to winter? i know with saabs..that the value of the cabriolet falls a bit during winter..and was wondering if same on porsches
and people in here told me that 28k is too much for a 986 yet i seen loads for sale even at 30k
just wondering though if people actuall BUY at this time

You`d be better off selling the car now. It`s a late model 986 and as such is going to be affected by depreciation far more than any possible seasonal change (and I`m not sure there is as much seasonal variation as people think). There are always a couple of cheap snotters that rear their heads under cover of winter shitty weather but in general a good car will always find a home.
As for it`s value, I think you might need to have a bit of a re-think. We`ve got a 987 up at the moment for £32,495 and we are not only dealers but a marque specialist.
Realistically I think the car`s sub £25k privately to sell. As ever it isn`t a crime to advertise a car at any price so give it a go. It depends on how seriously you want to sell it.

thanks for the info Henry
its just that the car was bought only a year and a half ago at 36k from AFN Porsche in solihull..just 10,000 miles has been put on it..and i am amazed that it would sell at 25k..11k depreciation in a year?
surely cant be right? i think i will put it on auto trader or top marques for 28k and see what comes up
its got all the options on it except sat nav

A big difference between a nearly new 3k mls car in a main dealer showroom when the new model wasn`t readily available second hand, and an 18 month 13k mls old model car outside the dealer network when the new model is readily available.
We are only asking £24,995 for our `04 car with a great spec - not sure you`ll get any more for the car being an `05 as most `05 cars are 987`s. Also bear in mind you`re selling privately and need to give someone an incentive to take that risk. Good luck with the sale.

25K is probably what AFN paid for it when they sold it to you for 36k..The depreciation wouldnt be that bad if you hadnt bought from a dealer in the first placeits just that the car was bought only a year and a half ago at 36k from AFN Porsche in solihull..just 10,000 miles has been put on it..and i am amazed that it would sell at 25k..11k depreciation in a year?
