Why the 997 GT3 is the best car I’ve ever owned.

Fantastic write-up.
Makes one wonder if the muppet that penned 'Peugeot, the drive of your life' has ever driven anything more exciting than a mobility scooter!
I was intrigued by this...
02:30 - Watch a movie
03:00 - Watch another
03:30 - Zzzzz…
How do you watch two movies in the space of one hour? Were you so hyper that you had the DVD on 4x FFWD?

Cem,
Great post and good luck with the car
Ive had a few chats with the General manager
at that Particular OPC saying the the gradient to
road is too steep for GT3s
PS - you must post your 550 Experience on this forum
funniest thing I ever read !

Haha - here in all its glory.
Splitters cost £150.00 fitted - they are totally treated as consumables - it's not that which worries me though, I'm just hoping that they flex enough to stop the main bumper from being damaged in anyway!
As for negatives, getting in and out is real unglamourous
Apart from that, nothing!
I LOVE the way you can play MP3's from a CD and the PCM can translate all the folder information too, this works great.
Sorry but I'm struggling to buy into the frequent hyping here for the new GT3, especially when it's over £90k once spec'd.
Only difference of real note is adaptive damping for poor roads and traction control for clumsy driving, otherwise it is very similar mechanically to previous GT3's, which good examples of can be bought for £40-£55k now.
Not wishing to upset anyone but let's keep things in perspective a little. And that's before even considering the sting in the tale when your local OPC offers £57k and a bag of cheesey Wotsits for it, two years down the road.

The 997 GT3 is the first Porsche I have really lusted after, others I've thought of as great cars but this is a bedroom wall car for me.
Excellent write up which has done nothing to alleviate the lottery type daydreams!

I agree with Phil's sentiments exactly. Fantastic write-up, once of the best i've read on here! I'd love a GT3 so much- but not very good at waiting...

Can't see anything wrong with people expressing their feelings and feedback on their new cars !!
As far as I remember the previous GT3's were dubbed 'brilliant' when they came out, a certain JC even commentating the last one was the best car he'd driven all year !!
It has now been improved by all accounts, which I'd say merits the praise it seems to be getting.
I agree £90k is a lot of money, but just maybe in the scheme of things it's actually worth it !!

Good post btw
prob buying the car a little too early as well - but hey, you gotta enjoy life
thinking buy one when your young and single - your income will need to double or more to afford one when hitched up !

My thoughts exactly - you're only young once - and money is only numbers on a page!!

The poor road manners and overly stiff setup were my only problem with the 996 GT3; now that issue is solved on 997 I see it as a major plus and not something to be taken as a small improvement. This opens the 997 GT3 up to a much larger market of everyday motoring and usability, in short it’s now on list.

I have a good job and fingers crossed the business keeps going well (Had a godo 2006 and 2007 is already busy!) who knows but, more likey to be 15 years but we must have something to aim for, otherwise we just waste our lives and go through work like a zombie. Before you know it your kids are trying to put you in a retirement home
I'd be happy to live in a dinky house with a garage, i've told the GF marriage is money wasted, which could be used as a deposit on my car
