997 and new boxster ?
Discussion
You know the saying: "less is more". Did the 986 CS have the same power as the standard car? From memory I think it was about the same, but the new Boxster CS is being touted as having around 40bhp more. Less kit but a lot more power.
Porsche still trade on the 911 brand as (wait for the flames...) something more than it is. For example, is a 996 convertible really worth that much more than a Boxster S? Probably not in terms of price/performance, but definately in terms of prestige.
The Boxster CS will appeal to a certain sector of the market ie people like most of us who read this forum. But the 997 will get all the goodies, a power hike to keep it above the "normal" Boxsters, and a 911 badge.
IMHO, the Boxster CS could be the car the 996 should have been. And the way the marketing people work, this can only be good for us.
Cheers

The 968 CS had the same alleged 240 bhp as all of the other normally aspirated 968.
The CS name Porsche use is for models where they reduce the weight by adding less equipment.
If they add 40 bhp as you imply then I would seriously expect POrsche to call this the RS.Not the CS ..
Compared to regular porshe model
Clubsport = same power,less weight
RS = more power & less weight.
This is one reason why the GT3 was not called an RS,it had more power than regular 996,but weighed more.Only now that the limited edition lightweight version of the GT3 is coming out do they add the RS name.
From my understanding of the way Porsche works,and the previous model designation that whole article was full of spurious detail.

Shouldn't that be the GT3-Clubsport then? or has it got even more power than the standard GT3? In which case it would be the GT3-RS?!
