silver coloured porsches with black interiors

You certainly can't ignore the car, whatever the colour.
Non car enthusiasts may not particularly notice a silver 996 or Boxster over a silver Passat or A6.
They may recognise the brand but silver cars are not shouting "look at me", hence go by unnoticed, which is what I believe why people go for silver.

Also, it looks pretty good on most cars!
Sure I read somewhere that because silver picks up colour from its surroundings via reflections, it always looks "right" in any given situation...
I read that 40% of new cars are currently being supplied in silver.
On the supply and demand scale, does this make silver a good investment or a bad one ?
Will white be the new silver ? Or does white only suit rental vans ?
I saw a C4s in red which looked stunning. But what interior colour ? Graphite ?
I am told that Forest Green is arty, but Forest Green with Savanna interior seems to be a real resale value no-no.
What colour would the typical Porshe purchaser choose ?
Black with black interior ?
Silver with black ?
Blue with black ?
Silver with blue ?
And what does this say about the typical porsche purchaser ?
I personally like yellow, but would I buy a new yellow Porsche ? If it was a GT3 with ground clearance, yes !

Because 'slip-on' grey leather is the new black. And just as dull
Thing of the nice Amethyst or turquoise interior you could have had OK, it would have buggered retail, but the neighbours would think you were a crazy, whacky kind of guy and invite you to lots of dinner/swinging parties

Had a silver 993 with red leather interior previously (famously described as very Austin Powers).
Went for a Speed Yellow Boxster this time with Aerokit, which I have to say looks fantastic (when clean). Occasionally I get bored with it, (about 10% of time), but I think I'd get bored with any colour after a while.
Yellow certainly gets noticed a lot more than silver (if you like that kind of thing), and I think a nice bright primary colour makes it look like a proper sports car (and not a 'gay banana' as some of my 'friends' have pointed out).
Will it hurt the resale value? Hmm, undecided on that. It's true that a significant amount of people favour silver, but from reading this thread, there seem to be enough enthusiasts around that really like (suitable) bright colours.

Just wondering...I used to own a LHD 993 with a full flamenco red leather interior (inluding headlining, all switches etc etc) in fact it had no plastic surfaces....some people likened it to sitting inside a vagina (!) Yours isnt my old car is it? It was a 1994 with every extra including cruise, porsche GSM telephone etc etc
Yellow Boxsters and 996s look stunnning when clean and when its sunny, especially with red callipers. I saw an immaculate 996 with sports designs on a bright crisp morning in Docklands. It looked fanctastic set against Cananry Wharf etc....takes a brave man though as I guess you limit the number of people to resell to...but what the hell...

One reason silver may be popular, is because it was almost the "national" color of German built race cars for a while. I've seen scores of Porsche, Mercedes, Auto Union, etc., cars in silver.
I've had two silver cars, one presently with dark blue leather, and I liked both of them. It hides the dirt and shows off the lines of the car. Granted, some cars look better in a silver than others. It seems like any particular car has a particular color that seems to show off the car best. Also, there are many many different versions of "silver" out there, mine actually being a "pewter"

I heard that the police are now buying silver rather than white, as they can't sell on white vectras etc. easily anymore and silver is better for resale values.
Personally I think silver with a red interior is a great colour combo - as long as it's a darker red and not the 'arterial blood' red I've seen on the slant-nose 930s
