I'd love my GT2 to be 100kg lighter (it's possible). If it wasn't tantamount to financial suicide I'd be fitting carbon body panels and upgrading the engine to 700bhp, however after spending £70,000 on modifications on one of my last cars and only getting back about £15,000 of it at re-sale, I bought the Porker to keep 'stock' and 'within warranty'.

I had a 993RS as well and it's the real deal, an awesome car. The GT2 does not come close to the feel, sharpness, purity or sound of it, but it is a damn sight quicker (and much quieter when cruising the autobahn at 150mph+, which is actually quite nice)

Having covered a couple of thousand miles in my GT2 Clubsport I now have a valid view "this a special car with levels of performance few could extract,Widow Maker?, yes,but lets not go there........learn to tame this beast and all your dreams will come true......A GT3 it ain`t, it`s far superior!"

Henry.

The mk I Gt3 is instant throttle and has been widely regarded as one of the best balanced modern 911's, the 996 GT2 is just a hooligan, loads of bhp, 2WD, an absolute scream, well balanced? Not from what i have read and expeienced, quick but not that quick, i remember a very fond moment whilst at an RMA trackday at leman when i ws in a GT2 being chased by a GT3, both drivers of cpmparable skill and the GT2 couldnt lose the GT3. I dont think the GT2 is as "malleable" in the same way the GT3 is. The GT2 is stunningly gorgeous in a in your face in top of the food chain way. The Gt3 is understated narrowbodied.

The one thing that has always stuck in my mind was a great road test of the GT3 in july 99 where the writer said regarding communication at the helm:
"drive over a coin at under 50mph and you will be able to call heads or tails, maybe even tell what year it was minted"

But great great cars... its a matter of opinion.

all the best
