Nos..... aka Nitrous oxide....
Discussion
The reason most people shy away from NOS is that it doesn't last that long:
25hp = 1.25 lbs a minute
50hp=2.5 lbs a minute
75hp=3.75 lbs a minute
A 20lb bottle is considered pretty big. Also, at £5ish per lb it's not that cheap to use either.
However, for installation costs it the cheapest way to get big power gains. It's best suited to drag racing.

Ha ha ha ha .... errrrr..... hang on that's my car?
I'm leaving this one alone. 100% original and no traces of the Max brigade. I need one sensible daily car!
Mind you I did see a pic of a model jet engine strapped to the back of a Raleigh Twenty/Shopper complete with basket. Cool! Now that's real street sleeper!

A few things.
Nos simply releases more oxygen in the combusion process (as mentioned earlier).
Therefore you need:
1. The extra fuel to keep the AFR the same.
2. Cooler running plugs.
3. Retard the timing when Nos activated.
4. A WOT (wide open throttle switch).
Nos is fine, it is not corrosive. Most people get bitten because they don't take the precautions above (and there are plenty more).
