Anyone whose done the GT3RS PEC day got any advice or info' they care to share?? I'm booked to do it this weekend and getting excited.

(Not a 991RS owner but they double booked the Gt4 and offered me the RS instead).
Make sure who ever takes you out does a couple of fast laps with you being the passenger. My guy had the nickname of "Dangerous Brian." My word he could drive! The RS will astound you! smokin

Yep - it is a great fun experience. Agree about the fast laps but the low friction handling circuit also is just brilliant fun even if the banks on either side feel a little close when the guy is telling you to boot it to get the back swinging around.

Was reading re a turbo 996 on another thread and the issues that could result after a spin on a trackday if you do not put it into neutral fast enough, what is the recommended procedure if one were to spin and go backwards in a 991 RS? On previous cars i've instantly dipped the clutch and then selected the appropiate gear , not applicable in this case ?
I expect pulling both paddles would do the job.

I would instantly learn from the experience, quite what I have no clue. Possibly look for something to blame when the reality as we all no would be my own incompetence. At least I am being honest . nerd

Please can other owners say what they are doing about running in . I am sticking to 3500 rpm and have done so upto 300 miles. Start up, drive off , vary the loads, keep it in manual and only reasonable long trips . I have now decided to up the ante to 4000rpm . God bless the oil crisis as I have been achieving 17.5 mpg. Molly claims that it is vulgar to talk about fuel consumption , I find it faintly amusing!

Anyway loving the reaction from other road users something that I thought was only reserved for Aston Martins. Visits to petrol stations seem to lead to conversations which make me feel so fortunate, which of course we are. Shrinking Violets need not apply!!

This is my running in plan. Delivery 5th Jan 2016, figures are in kms. Right up until I reach the magic figure of 3000kms I'll be varying the load. changing gear where possible manually, longer journeys ( none less than 25 kms ), no city driving and avoiding motorway where possible. Always making sure to drive off straight away as I hear the car runs rich from the off so I want to minimise that.

0- 1000 kms 4000 rpm
2000-3000kms 5000 rpm

The some short runs up to 7000 Rpm and finally 8800 rpm.

Oil and Filtre Change at one year old which should be 10,000 kms for me.

I'm booked on the RS Owners day at Oulton on Friday 11th March where I hope to open her up ! And Evo next day

Trip to Nurburgring in May, mostly about the drive out and back.

So right about running rich when starting, was told that the need to get the cats hot as quickly as possible for the poxy emissions . Remedy . Drive off as quickly as possible. It's like having a baby! So much care needed. In which case I am a very very proud Dad! smile

Some of these running in procedures are admirable. However, am I the only one thinking that it's making the car appear so fragile, especially compared to its forbears ?, I was on track within less than 500 miles in my two previous RS's, with zero issues. Mechanical sympathy is one thing, but this just all smells of Porsche not having confidence in its own product. What other cars require this kind of running in process ?

As for the 3000km running in, many of these cars won't do that kind of mileage in a whole year !!! In which case, imagine not being able to properly stretch the cars legs until some point in the 2nd years of the cars life. I'm really looking forward to the car, but all this is becoming a bit 'Italian'

This Saturday we have our first run out into Wales . Molly has come up with a route of approx 130 miles. Three cars in total, my RS, an Aston driven by a rally driver and a Ferrari! Strong possibility my running in procedure will be somewhat abandoned. At least I started off with the very best intentions.

Well Porsche have been given my final spec. £152,000 total. Was hoping to go PTS but informed this is no longer available. got my Porsche experience day booked in for end of Jan. Can't wait to drive it. Is there a big difference between gt3 and gt3rs speed wise etc?

152, that's what mine came to as well. PCCBs and lift and PSM made a big chunk on the extras.

Same for me, plus I added the services of Topaz Detailing who did a truly fabulous job on the paintwork which was rounded off with a complete covering of Suntek 2 paint protection. So very pleased. smile

My golden rule is to make sure the car is nice and warm before stretching it's legs i.e. oil and water at 90 deg. First few miles keep it sensible and build it up over time. Not having opened it up until 3000KM is ridiculous.

It could be totally futile anyway as I am led to believe that random samples of complete cars are tested to their RPM and Power limits to check production is ok.
